“Armor of God” study

In this Blogpost, which is companion to the Podcast Series, we’re going to look at the individual pieces of the Armor of God.

Now, all Saints know Jesus defeated every enemy when He died on the cross and conquered the grave three days later. It is from confidence in His victory that we can put on the full Armor of God and then stand firm in our daily battles.

But before we begin to break down our Armor and look at the individual pieces, let’s remind ourselves just where we get the idea of The Armor of God from in the first place: Paul’s letter to the Ephesian church, specifically:

Ephesians Chap. 6, verse 10 where the concept of the Armor is introduced and thru verse 18 where Prayer seals the Armor to us like glue.

Let’s read from the NASB:  “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

So, now we have the Armor set before us, but as any good soldier will tell you; you need to practice with and be familiar with every piece of that Armor for it to do you the most good.  You can’t be reading the instructions on the battlefield,   So let’s examine the Armor of God: piece by piece, and see if we can’t learn some practical ways to use each of them.

#1 Belt of Truth

A Roman soldier was only ready for battle when he was girded with his belt. This belt was made of metal and thick heavy leather and it was the carrying place for his sword. It also had a protective piece, usually of heavy leather, that hung down in the front covering his “unmentionables,” yet loose enough to allow movement. The soldiers belt held all the other pieces of his armor together. When fitted with his belt, it meant he was ready to face action.

Recreation of Roman Legionaire’s Belt

And since JESUS was Truth Himself, He had some things to say about this subject. In addition to declaring that He is “the truth” he also says:

  • in John 8:32 – “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    • free from what you ask? – from Satan’s lies and tyranny over our lives
  • and in John 17:17 – “Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.”
  • in John 18:37-38 addressing Pontus Pilate:  Pilate said, “So you are a king?” Jesus responded, “You say I am a king. Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say is true.”
  • in addition to Jesus own words on Truth, John wrote in John 1:14:
    • “So the Word (Jesus) became flesh/human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

And apart from Jesus’ teachings, we find the subject of truth scattered throughtout the Bible. Depending on the version you are using, the word ‘truth’ appears more than 200 times in Scripture.

Scripture tells us that lying (the opposite of truth) is an abomination to the Lord, read in Proverbs 12:22:

  • “The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.”

And that God leads us in His Truth – from Psalm 25:5 we are told:

  • “Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.”

And God tells us clearly, He delights in truth right from the very beginning, as stated in Psalm 51:6:

  • “But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.”

There is no lie found in God. He is always on the side of truth, and like said earlier, from John 8:32 – “the truth will set us free.”

So given all that, how does that belt, in the natural, fit with Truth in the Armor of God?  Well, Truth is the belt that holds the believers’ armor together as well. Ultimate Truth can be found in God’s Word and in the person of Jesus who IS the Way, The TRUTH, and the Life.

We must know this Truth in order to protect ourselves against our own flesh, the world, and the Father of Lies/satan, along with his fallen angels. Truth grounds us and reminds us of our identity in Christ, allowing us to compare our beliefs and actions to the Word of God, keeping them in Sync; keeping us from the world’s belief system.

So now that we have defined it; how do we “use” it, you know, get the most out of it.  Here are 3 ideas you could try; and I’m sure you can edit/add your own: you can –

1) Start your day in the Word.  How you start your day is vital to winning the day’s battles that you will inevitably face, ‘every’ day.  Try this:  before anyone else wakes up, set aside at least 10 minutes to begin your day in the Word. It is important that you are able to immerse yourself in scripture – here’s the HARD part – “without distraction.” If I might be so bold to suggest specifically – A Proverb, read to start your day, one for each day of the month, will give you Godly wisdom to consider, and as you go thru your day, things that happen will undoubtedly draw you back to at least one of the verses from that day. Try it for a month…arise a bit earlier: Pray to the Father, give Him the Glory He is due; ask Him, in Jesus name, to open your mind to Wisdom; Thank Him for safely watching over you through the night; and then read slowly, and chew over, that day’s Proverb.

Also, you can –

2) End your day in the Word.  In a quiet place (yeah, I know, some of you are saying “quiet place,” where do YOU live, obviously not in MY house – hey, if you have to, use a Mom’s last refuge – “The Powder Room”).  Before you lay down, dedicate 20 minutes to studying, not just reading, the Word. A suggestion – study a Psalm at this time, often they are songs of Praise to God and work as wonderful Prayers as well; and often they can be an analogy to the difficult day you’ve had and a reminder that GOD has NOT forsaken you.  Try a “Study Bible” from a source you trust maybe, to help you with giving you history tidbits that bring context and understanding to the chapters.

Now, just to be sure we understand each other, these little “Bible moments” are not to replace daily Bible study or prayer, but should be wonderful, short ‘additions’ to a life filled with Prayer and Purposeful Bible Study.  Please don’t tell me you don’t have time, you do…if I do, you do; and I had it even when I was working 12 hour days.

You can –

3) Memorize and/or Personalize Scripture based on the world’s lies you are currently struggling with.  Your Bible is the guide book for life, a Love Letter to YOU, written by our Creator so that no matter what you are struggling with, there ‘is’ scripture to point you in the right direction. You might take an idea I use:  In your reading/studying, find and print out or write out a Biblical verse or promise that speaks to your need, to your heart. A favorite verse perhaps. Then tape it up where you will see it every day, memorize it (you’ll find you’re doing that automatically if you tape it up and read it at least once every day…your brain will memorize it for you); and then speak it ‘aloud’ as an affirmation and declaration whenever Satan’s goons attack you, or maybe you just get plain frustrated with something. I had 5 taped up around my work PC; and 6 (some different, some the same) currently in my Cell Phone’s Notes under “Daily Affirmations.”  Biblical principles and/or verses or chapters that just speak to me.  And any guy who tells me he can’t memorize scripture:  Quick – what are the names and a few facts about your top 5 favorite sports stars…any sport.  Ohhh, you rattled them right off in your brain, didn’t you, AMAZING!  Now, give The WORD of GOD at LEAST the same time you gave learning about them…you’ll find memorization is easy.   Sorry to have to be brutally honest with both you, and myself, but it’s just a matter of what is important to you…Ok, that’s The Belt of Truth and how to use/wear it in life.  Now, as a bonus, here’s a nice Prayer I found that I rewrote a little, for the wearing of your Belt of Truth:

Glorious Father, Adonai, the truth will set us free. I pray that you remind me of your truth, when the devil prowls every day, seeking to devour believers and unbelievers with half-truths and deceptions. I pray that you remind me of who you are and the truth of you and of your plan for our lives and world, when the world tries to convince me otherwise. Help me to redirect other believers back to the truth, in love, and to accept their direction when they try to help me when I stumble away from the truth. Please help me keep the belt of truth fastened around my waist today, so I may be prepared for whatever attacks the evil one, or even my own flesh, has for me on the battlefield. Amen.

Although at first glance this piece of armor may have seemed insignificant, I hope I’ve shown you a few reasons why it is not; and remember, Scripture commands us to put on the full Armor of God. Our belt of truth holds together the other pieces of the armor and allows us to operate efficiently and effectively on the battlefield.

Without it, we have no way of reaching the sword of the Spirit (Scripture), and the other pieces of the armor are not secured without it. Truth can remind us about the true nature of God, especially when Satan attempts to thwart His image, and it can help us guide each other, helping us stay, or get back on, the right path when our belts go crooked, or too loose, on our waists.

Next we’ll look at the Breastplate of Righteousness.

#2 The Breastplate of Righteousness

The Roman soldier was always equipped with a breastplate. And it shouldn’t surprise us that soldiers need to wear a breastplate going into a battle. This piece of armor protected his vital organs in the heat of the battle – when he wasn’t quick enough to take up his shield. The breastplate was for the quick and unexpected advances of the enemy.

So, what did a Roman breastplate look like? Certainly not the same as a bulletproof vest that soldiers wear now. Although this type of armor worn in the age of Rome couldn’t deflect bullets (an invention that wouldn’t be used in its earliest forms until the 1300s), they did protect a soldier from swinging swords, knives, and arrows on the battlefield.

Depending on the time period in Rome, a soldier would wear a different type of breastplate. In earlier Roman times, it was more solid metal, adhering to the shape of the soldier’s body. Later on, it evolved to chain mail and leather, with more flexibility and coverage than the earlier breastplates. But no matter which type of breastplate Paul is referring to in the armor of God passages, he recognizes the important need to have our spiritual vitals covered by the Breastplate’s righteousness.

Recreation of a Romn Legionaire’s Breastplate

Listen believers, we have no righteousness of our own, NONE; Isaiah 64:6 tells us:  “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”  We only have that which has been earned BY and given TO us, by Christ. Our breastplate is His righteousness. His righteousness will never fail. Now, though we have no righteousness of our own, we must still, by His power, chose to do right, God has given us the privilege of CHOICE, we are not robots, He wants a choice out of Love. Living a right life, rooted in God’s Word is powerful in protecting our heart, killing our flesh, and defeating the enemy.

Whenever we enter the battlefield, Satan will attempt to pierce our most vulnerable areas. Now neither satan nor his fellow fallen angels can “know” you like God knows you, but they do “watch” you, and get to know your particular weaknesses, and that’s where they tempt you.  Therefore, God arms us with the breastplate of righteousness to prevent Satan from delivering a fatal blow.

This Breastplate of Righteousness, God’s holiness and perfection, comes to us through Jesus’ death and resurrection on the cross. Because Jesus takes our place by living the life we should have lived and dying the death we deserved to die, TAKING OUR PLACE AND PUTTING US IN HIS PLACE, he offers a covering of righteousness to block out the devil’s attacks on our hearts and souls.  Now, although the Breastplate is issued at the time a sinner repents, we see clearly that the passage in Ephesians encourages us to put on the armor regularly, not as just a one-time deal.  But I know we all then think:  “wait, I thought once we were saved, we’re always saved?’  Wow, is THAT a deep teaching for another time…for now…let’s break it down this way: righteousness doesn’t mean saying a prayer once and then going on with our lives as though nothing has changed.

Justification (just as if I’d never sinned) comes through a one-time commitment to Christ.  Sanctification, on the other hand, is the act of God shaping us to become more like Jesus, and it happens over a lifetime. You see, as you may have heard:  we come to Jesus AS WE ARE, but because of His great LOVE for us, He does not leave us as we are…we enter the:

Process of Sanctification.  Our privilege in wearing the Breastplate of Righteousness to protect us ‘should’ lead us to a desire to regularly engage with Scripture and spend time with God. That way we keep that Breastplate polished and when we encounter temptations and doubts on the battlefield, we are then fully equipped to combat them.

We continually put on Christ’s Breastplate of Righteousness, we continually secure it with the Belt of Truth, to keep the Breastplate in place. As we know, that Belt of Truth also comes from God (actually, IS God, in the person of Jesus, the Word become flesh). We continually learn about Truth/Jesus, Himself, and then are able to spot, and discard or ignore, the half-truths of this world that come from Satan.

Once we have that breastplate of righteousness in place, and secured with the Belt of Truth we can combat the snares Satan has set up for us that attempt to veer us away from the path of right living, that is Righteousness, in God’s eyes.

So now that we know all that – how do we truly use the Breastplate of Righteousness Jesus earned and provides, what are examples of natural applications:

Well, you can:

  1. Identify righteous activities in your life that strengthen you and bless someone else.  This may be as simple as having an occasional conversation with a homeless person and getting to know them by their name.  Giving to the poor – the Bible says:  if you have 2 cloaks and your brother has none, give him one of yours…the important thing here isn’t the giving…that’s important, but what comes from “righteousness” is the WHY you gave, the WHY you helped someone.  The position of your heart!

Another application in the natural – 2) We can identify unrighteous activities in our life that weaken us.  For each of us, these things will unique. one common example could be that you need to stop watching movies and TV shows that are not in line with Christ-following beliefs (you ‘know’ what I mean – constant swearing, nudity, sexual situations, the glorifying of sin). By intentionally exposing yourself to immoral behavior, you are actively allowing Satan to weaken the Breastplate Armor that Christ has built around you.  instead, in the face of temptation, turn to God.  The book of James, Chapter 4, verse 7 tells us if we RESIST the devil he will flee from us.  We RESIST him not with our own strength, but with the Word of God, just like Jesus did when tempted by satan in the desert after His baptism by John.  Also remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 where we are reminded: “…God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

And hey, since we get that wonderful Breastplate of Righteousness FROM our Jesus, let’s take a quick look  at a few of the things Jesus had to say about Righteousness.

In Matthew 6:33 Jesus tells us –

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

So we should seek righteousness; we should pursue it. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we should actively want a transformed, sanctified life.

And we CAN have it, because in Matthew 5:6 Jesus said – “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”

Let’s finish up this piece of our Armor with a very nice Prayer I’ve paraphrased, written originally by Hope Bollinger, a Christian Sister and Biblical researcher; about the protection of the Breastplate of Righteousness.  Please Pray along with, and in agreement with me:

Glorious Heavenly Father, no one is righteous, not one. But you have given us the gift of The Breastplate of Righteousness  through the gift of Jesus Righteous Life!  Help us therefore Father, to follow the path that righteousness has set before us, and to avoid the snares of temptation and sin set up by the devil. Help us to pursue you without ceasing today. Whenever we encounter temptation, help us to find and use that way out you always provide, rather than succumbing to the sin. Help us to recognize the lipstick covering of the pig of sin, before that small pleasure of the immediate season leads to dropping Christ’s Breastplate, and death.  Steer us away from situations or places which may tempt us more to sin, and when we are tempted (the temptation is not the sin), remind us of your ultimate goodness and that only you are the way of life. No matter what sinful temptations may promise, they cannot promise eternal life, joy, or love; which come from you alone. Arm us daily with the Breastplate of Righteousness earned by Christ Jesus, so we may be ready when Satan unleashes heavy torrents of blows on the battlefield. Amen.

#3 Feet shod with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace

Roman soldier’s feet were fitted with sandals called caligae or calcei, a later version (I believe they were the later, more covered like a boot version I showed you), here. Anyway, these sandals were made to help protect soldier’s feet during their long marches into battle. They had extremely thick soles and wrapped perfectly around their ankles in a way that protected against blistering; believe it or not, as re-enacters will tell you, they were a comfortable, breathable structure that allowed the soldier to march several miles in them without pain; and then fight a battle!  those were some tough guys! Anyway, Caligae also had spikes on the bottom to help them stand firm as they traveled and fought (also, the Roman Legions were known for stomping right on and thru any fallen enemy soldier(s), thus the phrase “crushed under the soles/boots of the Roman Legion”). These formidable sandals helped them have a firm foundation.

Roman Legionaire’s Fighting Sandals

Like the Roman Legion’s footwear, the Gospel protects us on the spiritual battlefield. A barefoot soldier, or one whose sandals/shoes/boots are poorly built or fitted will likely encounter debris or rough patches of ground, which will throw there fighting off course. So, in our ‘spiritual battles,’ what can throw off our peace of mind? Or throw off our peace about our circumstances? The answer is: any of the devil’s schemes and lies. The devil hurls debris at us like family feuds, job insecurity, friendship betrayals, or any other rocky situation to try to sabotage our strength.  But the firm footing a deep knowledge of the Gospel gives us, can help us to stay rock steady, and advance even over unsteady ground.

As believers, we can have peace in knowing we are secure in the foundation of victory that Jesus has already WON for us; and the enemy, whose only real weapon is the “Lie,” in various forms, cannot stand before a Soldier of the Cross properly fitted with the shoes the war sandals of the Gospel of Peace.

So, in practicality, how do we use our “war sandals,” the Gospel of Peace, in our daily battles?

Well, for starters, did you realize you can Preach the Gospel to yourself daily?  Just…Get IN the WORD, Remind yourself of the hope you have in Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice and your belief in Him, you shall not perish but have eternal life. Do not wait until the hardship to remind yourself of this. Build your foundation on a daily reminder of this hope, and you will be able to get through anything.

You can Share your testimony with others. The easiest and most effective way to share the Gospel with others is to tell your story of how Jesus changed your life; that’s really all effective “Evangelism” is, anybody can tell their own story, no “education” required.

You can be, you ‘should’ be “a living example.” The way you walk through the debris of life will be seen by many. They will check out your “shoes,” your “foundation.”  When you carry yourself with the fruit of the spirt, people will stop and notice.  And when you don’t; well, they’ll notice THAT too.  Remember this phrase that some of you have heard before:  “You” may be the only Bible some people you meet, ever read. That’s right, “YOU.”  You are watched constantly, especially if people know you are a Christian…so be careful, everything you do and say, you say as an Ambassador, a representative, of Jesus.

Also, remember, Roman Troops, all armies, train “together.”  And in Battle, back in ancient days, they advanced in tight formation.  Thusly the church, the Ecclesia, must walk together, must meet together, must “train” together, must help each other, standing close, not breaking formation; reminding each other of the peace and victory we have in Jesus, searching and researching the scriptures together is an act of “shoe repair” and “shoe evolution” building an ever stronger, more comfortable foundation in the Gospel of Peace.

Now, what did Jesus, the Prince of Peace, have to say about “Peace?”

Well, in John 16:33 Jesus said:

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

So Jesus confirms, we already have the victory assured; what “our” battle really is, is the battle to ADD to the numbers of Heaven’s Legion, God’s Family; remember, our fight isn’t against other people, but the principalities and unseen powers of this world, the devil and his fallen angels.  our ‘fight’ is to crush the evil principalities and powers, FREEING people and showing them Jesus that they might accept Him and be saved.

And in Matthew 11, verses 28-30, talking about life’s burdens which weigh upon us and therefore on our foundations/our feet/our peace, Jesus said:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

So when are shoes do start to hurt, when our foundation does feel like it’s weakening, Jesus says “rest,” come to Him, sharing His yoke.

And when Jesus returned to the Father, He gave us the foundation of His peace in John 14, verse 27 where He Blessed His disciples (and through them, US) saying:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

No matter what happens around us, we KNOW God has the victory, we are ON the winning side; we HAVE a SURE Foundation in the shoes, the fighting sandals, of the Gospel of Peace.

And now, as we close this muse in the series on the Armor of God, on having our feet shod properly with the readiness of the Gospel of Peace, a Prayer to close:

Glorious Lord, our Adonai Elohim, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, creator and sustainer of all there is, we ask today, fit us properly with the firm foundation of the shoes of the Gospel of Peace. No matter what debris, what lies, the enemy hurls at us, remind us of your truth, your goodness, and your magnificent plan. No matter how much the devil tries, he cannot thwart what you have planned for me, for my family, and for YOUR world. Make our foundations secure in the Gospel of Peace that no matter how much the earth gives way around us, these shoes of the good news of peace will help us stand our ground, to stand together, and to advance effectively your Kingdom over even the roughest, darkest terrain, takin the Gospel  far, spreading it’s good news to the very ends of the earth. And help us Lord, to recognize when a fellow brother or sister in Christ is in need of a reminder of your peace; the strength of your foundation. Help my brothers and sisters to come to ‘my’ aid when I have forgotten about your power and providence over this world. Jesus, you are the Prince of Peace. You will set everything right at the end, and for the meantime we sound the Shofar in Battle, advance the battle, and cry, “Maranatha! Lord, Jesus come.”  While we wait, while we occupy, and gain ground, till it’s time to go Home, please help us to be effective soldiers, to spread your Gospel, the good news, to those who need to hear it. In Jesus name, Amen.

That’s it for fitting our feet with the Gospel of Peace; we learned a little about the Roman Legion’s war sandals, and how they picture the FIRM foundation we should be building upon, the GOSPEL.  Next piece of Armor we’ll take a look at is the Shield of Faith.

#4 Shield of Faith

The Roman soldier’s shield was a complex and necessary piece of armor. The main battle shield, also called a scutum, was a soldier’s primary defensive weaponry and necessary to block and protect the warrior against attacks from the enemy consisting of swords, spears, and arrows. It was made of nearly impenetrable wood, leather, canvas, and metal; and could be doused in water to extinguish the fiery arrows of the enemy.  Without their shields, the Roman Legionaries would simply be walking targets out on the battlefield.  Besides covering most of an individual soldier while they marched forward these shields could also be essential interlocked as I’m showing you in the photo I’m holding up; thus protecting an entire squad of soldiers from perhaps a hail of spears or arrows as they grouped closely together, withstood the attack, then spread back out into formation and continued their march forward.

Roman Soldier’s “Scotum” Shield

Now the Scutum was too massive for horseback so there was also the Parma (think more like the round, iconic comic book shield of CPT America); these were about 36 inches in diameter and crafted from combinations of wood, iron, and leather.  their were later variations, of course, but these would not have been from Jesus or the Apostle Paul’s era.

Roman “Parma” Shield, for horseback

Faith is the shield of the believer. Trusting in God’s power and protection is imperative in remaining steadfast. Not only that, the WORD of God specifically tells us in Hebrews Chapter 11, verse 6, NKJV that:

But without faith it is impossible to please God, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

When the battle rages, we take up our “Shield” of Faith, by remembering God’s goodness and His manifold promises for those who Love Him.  A small example:

Romans Chapter 8, verse 28 Apostle Paul tells us:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Deuteronomy 31:6, Moses states:

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Phillipians 4:19, Paul again, states:

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

Proverbs 3:5-6, a proverb of Solomon:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

…in truth, there are over 25 “main” Promises of God in scripture for those who love God…that you can hold onto…those are just a few …I’m going to do a future Muse and Blog post just listing out and talking a little about many of the main promises of God, so look for that within the next week or so; but if we do them all here, well, it would be one very l-o-n-g muse/blog (you can find entire books just listing the Promises of God) …and that’s a good thing….not the long muse/blog, the FACT that it would take so long; AND that all God’s promises are YES and AMEN…that IS good!

So, given the reminder of God’s promises that build and strengthen our Faith, what else strengthens our spiritual strength, our Faith Shield.  Well, just like the Roman soldier; banding TOGETHER, of course!  Band together with other believers in the fight of faith. The best way to band together is through the closeness of a small group, a small Bible Study; a small church (mega-churches are a whole other study and issue – some are great, most have issues, and many of the best ones, have “small group” Bible Studies in addition to the main worship services…so again, we see, small groups being where the most growth and support comes from). This is how the church itself began in the first century; and this is where the strongest bonds are made today, the formal study and then the conversations, and friendships, meals together, etc. that spring from that.  Men’s/Women’s/Teen’s, Home Bible Studies and small groups; mid-week Bible Studies in the church building’s sanctuary, homes, or other locations, all serve to create that wall of support that is stronger than our individual shield.

Example of Scutum Shield in defensive formation (tightly knit!)

Also, to strengthen our Faith, we can, both to ourselves and others, recount God’s past victories in your life – make a list of all the times God has come thru for you, all the answered prayers, Keep a Journal, and when your Faith waivers a bit, go back to that list and remember, in detail, how many times you fret and fret, and ‘Poof,’ the “Waymaker” made a way; many times one you hadn’t even considered.

So, we have our Faith as a defense, but did you ever think of it as a way to “push back” against and gain ground on the enemy as well?

Our greatest example of that Matthew Chap. 4, vs. 1-11, when Satan tempts Jesus in the desert, Jesus then uses his knowledge of Scripture (evidence of the one and only God who should be worshipped) as an act of faith and pushes against Satan’s taunts and challenges, till the devil, thwarted, has to leave.

And just a few of the many examples of Jesus Himself, talking about the importance of Faith:

  • Matthew 21:21-22:  Then Jesus told His disciples, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
  • Matthew 17:20:  He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.
  • Matthew 9:27-29:  As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”
  • Matthew 8:5-13, The Faith of the Centurion: When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.” Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.

These are just a few… And always remember, as we stated at the beginning when talking about out Shield of Faith:  It is impossible to please God without Faith, Faith is how we come to Him, believing that He is, and that He rewards those who seek Him diligently.

So as we come to the end this piece of Armor, let’s share a prayer about taking up the Shield of Faith:

Glorious Father, Our Adonai Elohim; help us to remember both your promises, and the times you’ve come through personally for us, when taking up our shield of faith daily as we enter the battlefield of this life. We live in a broken, sin-filled world where the devil and his minions will thrust his sword, throw spears, and shoot his arrows of discord, doubt, and deceit every chance he gets. Arm us with the shield of faith today that we may be able to expel the enemies attacks and extinguish his fiery arrows; advancing forward instead, to spread your Gospel to those who need to hear it.  And Lord, help me when I doubt to remember your goodness, your graciousness, and just how great and wonderful you are; how your promises are only YES and AMEN for those who Love You.  Help us to remember also always, the soldier to our right, left, behind and in front; that our shields work best in formation. When we take up our shields together, we are more protected, and if we ever struggle with doubts, we have our fellow believers beside us and together, with YOU, we help walk each other through our darkest moments.   In Jesus name:  Amen and Amen.

#5 Helmet of Salvation

As we usually do, since the Apostle Paul talks about the Armor of God, referencing what he knew, the Roman Soldier’s Armor, let’s look at the Roman Soldier’s Helmet to start, and pull our analogy from there.

Now, obviously, a Soldier’s head is one of his most vulnerable areas. Without his helmet, one blow to the head would likely prove fatal on the battlefield. The Roman Soldier’s helmet covered his entire head, facial area, and between the eyes. The rest of his armor would prove useless if he wasn’t equipped with his helmet.

Roman Soldier’s Helmet, probably an Officer
Another style, Roman Legionaire’s Helmet

Now we don’t have the time or ability in this Blog post/Muse, to go into the entire doctrine of salvation and the timeless argument regarding whether one can lose their Salvation.  That is for another time; but I definitely have an opinion on it.  Something to look forward to (wink).

The believer’s helmet of salvation, like the Roman Soldier’s helmet, is the most crucial piece of armor for the Christian. Without the indwelling Holy Spirit that enters a believer at the moment of salvation, all other armor is useless. Salvation empowers believers to fight. It protects us in our weaknesses. Without salvation, you aren’t a Soldier in the Lord’s Army, and you have “no” Armor to protect you from the Evil one or his minions.  Salvation is NECESSARY, and is the one piece of your Armor that, in actuality, unlike the Roman Soldier, you never take off.  Again…we’re not tackling whether or not you CAN take it off here…for this study, once you HAVE the Helmet of Salvation, it’s ON.  So why then, does Paul tell us in Ephesians to take up the Helmet of Salvation, as if we aren’t wearing our Salvation from moment one that, in our heart, we accept Jesus.

Let’s call “taking up the Helmet of Salvation, for our purposes, taking up the “HOPE” of Salvation!  Remember, “Biblical Hope” is a SURE THING!  We have confidence that God will work in and thru us to the very end, when we get “Home,” to enjoy the fruit of our “Hope of Salvation.”  So daily, we take up that “Sure Hope” which covers our head, our mind, and gives us “Godly Confidence” from the devil’s lies that he tries to plaque us with; doubts, worldly ideas, having us focus on the moment and not on the sureness of our eternal protection.  The Helmet of Salvation, the HOPE of our sure Salvation protects us from that, so we can concentrate on spreading the Gospel through the “sword of the spirit,” because we’re not busy nursing head injuries.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 seems to align with this interpretation as it admonishes us to put on the ‘hope of salvation as a helmet.’

So, Practical Application time:  how do we put on our “Hope of Salvation” every day?

Well, as with other pieces of Armor, we see again, staying in Scripture, which sharpens our memory; actively praying during all circumstances, and remembering always, who has the ultimate victory.

Satan wants to keep us trapped in the here and now. We watch way too much “News,” forgetting that the news is a “captured entity” of evil; mostly just presenting the most awful tragedies, and rarely helpful or happy encounters; after all “happy, nice things, which actually are the majority…don’t “sell” the news.  So, having life’s tragedies constantly placed before us; we encounter doubts, and we worry we’ve lost our land, our world, even our salvation. THAT’S why we need our Spiritual Armor! We have to renew our trust in the Lord, the TRUTH of our Hope of Salvation!

We have to remember that since He has already paid the price to save us; and that we’ve put our total trust in him, that he will not abandon us!  WE WIN!

So What Does Jesus Say about Salvation?

Salvation was one of the most talked-about topics in Jesus’ sermons. No wonder since salvation comes through him alone as He himself states to His disciple Thomas in John 15:6:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Jesus also reminds us God gave us Him, his only Son for our salvation from sin in probably the most famous scripture quote, John 3:16, continuing here through verse 18:

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.”

And even earlier, John told us in John 1:12:

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”

Father God, through our belief in Jesus sacrifice, adopts us into His family.

Now, if you haven’t had a chance to make a commitment to the Lord, or if you’ve been “waiting,” DON’T WAIT!  NOW is the acceptable time, no one is guaranteed life on this earth tomorrow.  If you want to be saved and adopted into God’s family, consider speaking with a pastor, or a friend who is a believer, and have them guide you through a Prayer of Salvation, and then, as your first act of Faith, proclaiming Jesus as LORD; get Baptized by FULL EMERSION, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; dying to your old life, and becoming NEW in Christ Jesus!!

Now, while it is certainly true that you don’t NEED a Pastor to accept Jesus, you can cry out to Jesus and accept Him while alone; and if your heart is true, at that moment you will be saved!  But then you must find a Pastor, a fellow believer who is not also new in the Faith, and fulfill that first command given to a new believer: be Baptized, publicly repenting of your sins, believing in your heart, and confessing out loud with your mouth, “Jesus is YOUR Lord!”  I say seek out a Pastor or Christian friend because as a new believer, they will help you learn more about Jesus and the wonderful journey of faith you’ve begun.  They will help you get a Bible if you don’t have one, and help you find a good church or nearby home bible study, so you can grow in your love and knowledge of Jesus.

And now, as we end this blog section, let’s share A Prayer for Your Helmet of Salvation

Glorious Father, Adonai Elohim, in Jesus name, please give me the assurance that I am your child and that you will do all you have set out to do on earth. In this broken and dying world, remind me of your promises. Help me to renew my mind. Purge any thoughts that are not holy or not true, and equip me for the battlefield of today. Destroy any doubts that may cloud my mind and help me to keep my mind on the things of eternity, even while living through the battles of every day life. I love you Lord, and am trusting in you today, tomorrow and always.  As we don our Helmet of the Hope of Salvation daily Father, we ask that you protect our heads, our minds, where the devil likes to strike. Hope and trust in you Lord can shield us from all the blows the devil may try to render against us. When you finish our Armor suit with the helmet of salvation, we rest even in battle, assured that You are our rock, fortress, light, and life, and that you will never abandon us; even unto the end of time.  In Jesus name, Amen.

#6 Sword of the Spirit

All other pieces of the soldier’s arsenal are defensive weapons, but not his sword. The sword, a Gladius, was a deadly weapon. In the hands of a skilled warrior, he could pierce through even the strongest armor.  A bit of history on the Roman “Gladius.”

Roman Soldir’s Sword “Gladius”

It was worn on the right side of the soldier’s body and was a short and relatively lightweight instrument. When first examining the Gladius, it is difficult to see how such a small weapon, just 18 inches long, was capable of being so effective. But the Gladius was ingenious in design and implementation.

The Roman soldier wore his Gladius on the right side of his body ‘regardless’ of whether he was left or right handed because soldiers fought battles not individually, but as a single unit, standing shoulder to shoulder. Back in the days of the Roman Legion, there would be up to 500 men in a line all touching one to one on either side, thereby making it nearly impossible for the enemy to get through the ranks.

You can see then, it was imperative that they all used the same hand for fighting with the Gladius. So in training, any left handed soldiers would have their left arm strapped to their body and made to practice using their sword with their right hand until it was second nature (this greatly displeases my “very left-handed” wife when I told her…LOL).

Now, when using the Gladius, the legionaries did not hack at the opponent as this would have made the soldier vulnerable to attack on the exposed parts of his body. Instead he was trained to stab at the enemy in a very fast back and forth motion. This was most effective as it meant a much faster rate of attack, probably as much as two, to even four stabs per second, as opposed to the one slice every two/three seconds if the Gladius was used in a swinging motion.

Everyone wearing it on the right side meant that the legionarie could draw his Gladius in a very compact manner without interfering with the soldiers on either side of him. Considering the close formation of the Roman battle unit this was a distinct advantage. Having the Gladius on the right side meant that it could be drawn without the risk it could be caught up in his shield; or by mistake, think about this – even to grab the Gladius of the soldier next to him.  Sorry Mrs. Pilgrim, but forcing the use of the Gladius to the right side was the “right” thing to do. {wink}

Now, “our” sword is the Word of God, both the written and the incarnate Word. Every other piece of armor protects us against attacks. With God’s Word, and with the name of Jesus, who is the Word made flesh, we are truly able to fight and defeat all enemies. Jesus Himself used Scripture, “the Word,” to defeat Satan when He was tempted in the desert. We must do the same.  Now, while our Sword of the Spirit is our one “offensive” weapon; note that it is also, as Jesus showed during His temptation in the desert noted above, a “defensive” weapon.

Being both offensive and defensive in nature, a sword can protect a soldier against the blows of an enemy by parrying their attack. Soldiers have to know how to properly wield a sword for maximum effect. what does THAT mean? practice, practice, practice!

In much the same way, we have to be well-schooled/well trained, in the use of The Sword of the Spirit, or we’ll put ourselves in danger on the spiritual battlefield. What’s our “practice” you ask? Reading, studying, memorizing, meditating on The WORD!

Whenever using the Word of God on the offensive (think ‘evangelism’) or defensive (think ‘apologetics’ or, in other words, the defense of the Gospel and/or very existence of God), we need to know everything we can about it to be successful.

The Holy Spirit is our primary trainer in the Word, he teaches us how to use it properly, reveals to us it’s hidden power and treasure; and to assist Holy Spirit, Ephesians 4:11-12 tells us

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

So, through the power and knowledge of the Holy Spirit residing within us; and with the 5-fold ministry gifts Christ has endowed us with to prepare and TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN: how do we use the The Sword of the Spirit, the very WORD of GOD to:

  1. spread the Gospel and
  2. to be prepared for any questions or doubts that may arise regarding Scripture?

Well, here are a few thoughts:

1. We Must Read the ‘Sword,’ the Word, in Context

One of the worst ways to use your sword is to read it out of context, or read into it your own cultural biases (there’s a big word for that – eisegesis – simply meaning a method of interpretation where one introduces one’s own opinions into the original.) A simple example: say you read Philippians 4:13:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

If you don’t know the original context of this verse: which is Paul, suffering in prison, with a thorn (a weakness) that God won’t remove, you might interpret the passage differently. You might say, “Well, I can do all things, so I’ll just go win the Olympics;” and then when you fail, maybe you blame God.

But as we know, that was not what the verse actually said, in context.  The context there being Paul could continue, could work spreading the Gospel, thru the strength of Christ within him, though he himself was physically frail; in other, more modern verbiage perhaps; Paul could do all things that God has called him to do, thru Christ Jesus.  This is why we often study the secular history surrounding the times that our Biblical writers lived in, the CONTEXT is important!

2. We Must constantly train with, learn as Much as We Can about the Sword itself to be expert in it’s use.

How do we do this? Simply speaking: we study the Sword/The WORD daily, seeking first The Lord in prayer that the Holy Spirit would open the Word and give us a proper understanding, a proper discernment; gaining daily a deeper understanding of Scripture. We read our Bibles, we follow the footnotes, we maybe add a trusted commentary or two and then, if more context is needed, we research the secular history of the time so we understand customs and the like that may have changed over the centuries; we listen to sermons and bible studies preached and taught on the word from apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers whom we have vetted and we trust; we take notes; we keep journals; we double-check that what someone taught was actually “in” the Bible; we highlight passages in our Bibles that speak to us.

1 Peter 3: second half of verse 15 says:

“…if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it.”

But if we don’t have a solid knowledge of Scripture, we may not be able to give that proper explanation.

Atheists and those of other religions will often twist Scripture or point out more difficult passages or problems. We must be ready to give an answer to these difficult questions, through engaging with God’s Word every day. And if you don’t have a “ready” answer; don’t get steamrolled, and don’t make stuff up; simply say that you need to do a bit more research on that question; and then make sure you do it, getting assistance if necessary, Pastors field those kinds of calls all the time, and then get back in there and answer that question, that’ll throw them off as they won’t expect that!

We also must be ready to spread the Gospel, to Evangelize, to follow the order Christ gave – The Great Commission, in Mark 16:15:

…“Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

An Ethiopian eunuch, in Acts 8:26-40, a passage you really need to read on your own, it is AWESOME, he reads through a portion of Scripture, but doesn’t understand it. However, because of a pre-determined act of God, and a disciple’s obedience; that disciple, Philip, is in the area and explains the Scripture to him, leading the man to convert to Christianity; baptizing him and then being miraculously caught up by God to another place. Guess what happened to that eunuch, according to secular history, that eunuch did much to evangelize the whole area of Ethiopia.  Ripples people, ripples on the water…you never know what your one act of obedience may cause to ripple outward, to God’s Glory.  Ok, back to the subject at hand:

3. We Must Ask God to Reveal Himself through the Sword/His WORD

As mentioned before, we won’t always have all the answers. But, when we’ve accepted God as Savior of our lives, His Holy Spirit reveals His character and His plan for our lives through Scripture. 1 Corinthians 2:10-15 tells us:

“But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others.

By spending time with God in his Word every day, and time in prayer ‘every day,’ asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the meaning in God’s Word to us; to give us Wisdom and Discernment; we learn more about our Jesus, and grow closer in relationship with him.

So What Does Our Jesus, the very Word made flesh Himself, say about the Word of God, about Scripture?

Well, as we mentioned already, in Matthew, Chapter 4, when He was driven into the desert after His baptism, Jesus used the Sword of the Spirit, Scripture, as a defense against the devil’s temptations.

Jesus frequently quoted the Old Testament in his sermons (way too much to list or read here, this is where you MUST be “Bereans” and search out the Word), and stated clearly, in Matthew 5:18, while preaching the well-known “Beatitudes,” that God’s words, God’s Law, will never pass away. Jesus said:

“I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.”

In other words, they’re immutable, unchanging, and timeless.

Jesus tells us Scripture bears witness about him in John 5:39 when He scolded the Pharisees, telling them:

“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to ME!”

in His prayer to the Father for His disciples Jesus clearly states in John 17:17 that scripture speaks truth when He asked the Father in prayer:

“Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.”

and also, we have the Apostle Paul telling us in 2 Timothy 3:16-17:

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

So, as we come to the end of our study on The Sword of the Spirit, what other “Sword Analogies, or Sword imagery” is used in the Bible that might be pertinent to our study of The Armor of God?

Well, Hebrews 4:12 gives us this description (NLT):

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”

And Revelation 19:15 gives us this powerful sword illustration of Jesus, after stating He holds the Title: The Word of GOD!

“From his mouth came a sharp sword to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron rod. He will release the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty, like juice flowing from a winepress.”

To close, please join me in Prayer; in asking The Lord to fully equip us with the Sword of the Spirit and train us in it’s use:

Glorious Heavenly Father, our Adonai Elohim, equip us with the sword of the Spirit today. May we always be ready to give a reason for the hope that we have within us. Whenever the devil launches doubts or twists Scripture, remind us about what your Word really, truly says. As we study your Word today, help us to bear in mind the original context of the passage, so as not to distort the meaning of the Word. Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus, take us deeper into the Word, revealing to us the meaning of your Word as it applies through it’s many layers, to our life, our situation, today.  Father, by your great wisdom, you give us this one offensive weapon in the spiritual armor: the Sword of the Spirit, your very Word; the only solid truth in a fallen world.  With it, and the remainder of our Armor, we are not vulnerable on our daily battlefield.  Indeed Father God, in your ultimate wisdom, you could not have given us a better offensive and defensive weapon to finish out our Armor. The Word of our Lord has the ability to penetrate stubborn human hearts, to open their eyes to the truth of God, and to give them an opportunity to accept the gift of salvation that is Jesus.  Your Word assists the rest of our defensive Armor when the devil launches his attacks and accusations.  Satan may ask us difficult questions or try to cause us to have doubts; but we ask that you strengthen us, through the study of The Word regularly, that we can remind ourselves of who you really are, and see clearly the father of lies for who he is. Bless Us now Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, as we complete our study of the Armor we wear as soldiers of the Cross, and go now, to enter the Battlefield, the world around us; that we might fulfill the Apostle Paul’s words from Ephesians 6:13 –

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

In the mighty, all powerful name of Jesus Father, we say, AMEN!

PRAYER

Now let’s add Prayer to bind it all together:  possibly the most important part of your Spiritual Armor that most everyone forgets. When most people read about the Armor of God, they think that it ends with the sword of the Spirit.

But take a look at verse 18 again – it starts with the word AND.

Ephesians 6:18

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

So you see, as the verse goes with those before it, so Prayer goes hand in hand with our Armor; and just perhaps, as the piece that “activates” all of the rest of our Spiritual Armor, it might just be – the most powerful part.

Just a couple things I’ve considered in adding Prayer to the Armor of God Muse/Blog series:

1 – It is through prayer that we ask God to reveal Himself, and Jesus, in Scripture.  The Bible is a series of great stories; but to be the true LOVE LETTER that it is, written to us, we need to Pray deeply that God will use the Holy Spirit to open up the layers of His WORD, making them come alive for us every time we read them.

2 – it’s through our prayers that we can ask God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who made and sustains the heavens and the earth, to accept our repentance; to adopt us as His sons and daughters through Jesus sacrifice on the Cross at Calvary; to come to our rescue in times of need; and to strengthen us to win the battle daily as we pilgrim thru this world on our way Home.

THAT’S SOME POWERFUL STUFF!

The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing.  Because without God, your battle efforts are futile!  We can’t do this alone, we need God’s help through the Holy Spirit within us, to battle in the spiritual realms.

Through prayer, we WORSHIP God, we verbalize all of our prayer requests to Him. We ask, thru prayer, that God raise up intercession for the trials surrounding us in this world.

Thru Prayer we ask Jesus to send his angels to minster, both to us and for those whom we know are in travail.

Remember, THE UNASKED PRAYER GOES UNANSWERED!!  While God “knows” your needs, because He craves that love relationship with you, He wants you to come to Him, to spend TIME with Him, to share with Him your life, that He may prove Himself that “Good, Good Father” that we sing that He is.

There’s so much God has for you, if you will just spend time with Him, get to know Him, and ASK. Matthew 7:7 tells us:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Now, as you should already know, there’s more to it than just asking God for things – God is not some supernatural genie in a bottle waiting to do your every request.

No, your relationship with God is just that, a RELATIONSHIP; where you come to the Father, thru Jesus, the maker and sustainer of ALL things, because of His sacrifice on your behalf. Thru Jesus, drawing deeper with Him and aligning our wills with His, we want and ask for, what IS the Father’s very Will for us. Spending time with God is necessary to grow that relationship. Now I’m going to use money here as an example, because it makes the example easy to understand. Think about this: if someone you barely know asks you for money, how much would you give them? My guess is, depending upon the circumstance, maybe some, but probably not much, and almost assuredly, only out of abundance, and not sacrificially.

Now say your best friend, or a son or daughter falls on hard times, or just a hard situation; and they come to you and ask for money, how much would you give? My guess is probably whatever they need plus more if you have it (with the caveat that it isn’t to enable a bad habit).  It’s obvious, the “relationship” changes our response? Same request, two different responses. And prayers should not just be requests.

In fact, the Bible encourages us to offer God words of praise and thanksgiving; in fact every Prayer should START by acknowledging who God is, and giving HIM the Glory only He deserves.

For example, when the disciples asked Jesus to teach them “how” to Pray, how did that so well known prayer start?  In Matthew 6: 9-10 Jesus instructed:

“After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.10Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

So Jesus Himself directs us to give the Father GLORY, acknowledge Him as HOLY, separate, perfect, and that your desire is that His will dominate the earth, and more intimately, YOUR LIFE, as it does in Heaven.

And further, if you take a quick look through the Psalms of King David, (way to many to read here, time for you to be BEREAN, and read those wonderful Psalms!) you can see why David was a man after God’s own heart.

David is specifically noted as the author of 73 psalms in the titles of the psalms. These include Psalms 3—911—3234—4151—6568—7086101103108—110122124131133; and 138—145.  Plus, Acts 2 tells us Psalm 2 is David’s; Hebrews 4:7 gives David attribution for Psalm 95.

Now you can see from reading even a few of David’s Psalms that his relationship with God was so intimate that he talked to him about whatever was on his mind. He freely used words of praise, thanksgiving, worries, concerns, tears, and anguish. David talked to God about everything, and you can too!

And look, sometimes no words are required. Once a dear friend of mine, years ago, when my first wife was very ill, before she passed; he spent hours sitting with me at the hospital. A man who I talked with all the time, we always seemed to have things to talk about together…but not then, …no words, too much anguish, but he was THERE, and I will NEVER forget him for that deep, loving act; we will ALWAYS be Brothers, for that and many other reasons. Hopefully he is finding time to watch this podcast or read this Blog as we now live quite a distance from each other. You can have THAT kind, and even deeper of a relationship with GOD too, in fact, He wants that!  Just let your heart pour out!  And sometimes, just like that good friendship can have a comfortable silence, you can come to God in silence.  Silence because you are in awe of God. Silence because your heart is too broken for words and has only tears; and yes, silence because deep Prayer is a 2-way conversation, and we need to listen to that still small voice reaching out to us in Love. When really troubled with deep anguish, let The Holy Spirit within you speak on your behalf, in fact the Bible says the Spirit will groan on your behalf in Romans 8:26 which reads:

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Now life is going to have troubles, Jesus told us that in John 16:33 where He stated while talking to His disciples near the end of His time with them:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

So you won’t win every battle, little or big; but prayer and communion with God will mean He walks besides you; helping you through it all; whether enjoying the highest mountaintop, or traversing the deepest, most anguish-filled, valley; and the good news is WE HAVE ALREADY WON THE WAR!

So as we finish this muse about how Prayer is the ‘activating agent’ and the glue for our Armor of God, it’s only appropriate that we close with a Prayer.

Almighty Father, our Adonai Elohim, Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we acknowledge you for who you are, for your Holiness, your awesome Glory.  We Thank you for Your mighty armor, laid out before us daily. We Pray in Jesus name Father, that You would go before us today; helping us to tear down the strongholds of the enemy before us, and aligning our minds with your awesome will for us and for your earth.  Prepare our hearts and minds for whatever we will face today. Through our constant, intimate Prayers with Jesus Father, and thru the power of the Holy Spirit residing within us, help us put on our armor firmly and securely, guiding us then, in our daily battle, that then, having done all, with YOU, we might STAND. Amen and Amen!

One Pilgrim’s Daily Affirmations

Don’t forget, YAHWEH, father God has been in control this whole time.  So look forward to our victory, say in your heart, and believe in your heart every day – that you are on the winning side; you’re on god’s side, which means he’s on your side, so you can’t lose!

Remember, I am undefeated because the great I AM defeated my adversary and everything they planned for me.  My victory is here and now; because the great I AM lives inside of me; He is the lion of the tribe of Judah, He is in me, and reigns in my life! My enemies therefore fall before my face.

  • You’ve lost satan;
  • you’re a defeated foe;
  • we have won in Jesus name;
  • you are being brought low;
  • and god and his army is rising up;
  • and I myself;
  • as a little tiny member of that evangelistic army of the Lord Jesus Christ;
  • in His strength;
  • am running through the countryside,
  • running through the cities,
  • running through the landscape,
  • running through the internet – everywhere

and God’s glory the rainbow glory of God that each member of God’s army contains within them, is bursting forth like a fountain, and as it flows through I can see people inhaling the very Glory of God; it is coming into them and they are being saved!

Pray {YOUR NAME},

Pray for this great revival, this massive billion plus soul harvest!  Pray, pray and work for souls because now complete restoration is yours {YOUR NAME}, in Jesus name; and that time is right now!

Lord, it is time and I want more of you; fill me Holy Spirit, teach me! I want to walk in the spiritual realm in the name of Jesus; I want true wisdom, dreams, visions, Words of Knowledge and Prophecy; Understanding of times and insight into Scripture!  So Holy Spirit, teach me to be all I was created for in Jesus name!

{YOUR NAME} believe in Proverbs, Chapter 3: 5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.”

Remember also Psalm 31: 14-15

“But I am trusting you O Lord, saying that you and you alone are my God; my future is in your hands, rescue me now from those who would hunt me down relentlessly.”

Everything in your time and for your glory Lord;

And Lord, I claim the promises outlined in Isaiah 54: 17 where you said through your Prophet Isaiah

“But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed, you will silence every voice raised up to accuse you; these benefits are yours because they are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord, your vindication comes from me,  I the Lord have spoken.”

and in Psalm 27:2, I take that promise too

“when evil people come to devour me when my enemies and foes attack me they will stumble and fall”

And Lord, I decree and declare that Mark 4:22 will indeed come to pass where it is said:

“for everything that is hidden will eventually be brought into the open and every secret will be brought to light”

And when times are difficult remember {YOUR NAME}; remember James 1:2-4 which states

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.  So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”

except of course the Lord, always.  {slight Pause}

Father, I thank you for Paul’s prayers for spiritual growth from Ephesians 1:16-20 and 3:14-19, and Lord, I say them now over myself and over my spouse and our family

“Lord God, glorious Father, our Adonai Elohim, I come before you Lord God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, asking that you bestow on your servants the spirit of wisdom and insight so that we might grow in our love and knowledge of you Adonai.  I pray that that our hearts will be flooded with light so that we can understand the confident hope that you have given to those you have called, your holy people, who are your rich and glorious inheritance.  I also pray Father that we will understand the incredible greatness of your power for us who believe in you.  This is the same mighty power that raised Christ Jesus from the dead and seated him in a place of honor at your right hand in the heavenly realms.”

“When we think of all this glorious Lord we can but fall to our knees before you prostrate, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the creator of everything in heaven and on earth.  It is in the mighty name of Jesus, Father, we pray that from your glorious unlimited resources you will empower your servants with inner strength through your holiness.  May Christ make his home in our hearts as we trust in you.  May our roots grow down deeper into your love and keep us strong.  And may we have the power to understand, as all god’s people should – how wide, how long, how high, and how deep your love is precious Father.  May we experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to fully understand, because then we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that flows from your precious Holy Spirit.  And now all glory to you Father God, who are able through your mighty power at work within us to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.  Glory to you Lord in your Ecclesia and in Christ Jesus through all generations, forever and ever, Amen.”

And Lord, I have these confident hopes because I know that I can say that I am

  • washed by the blood
  • covered by the blood
  • saved by the blood
  • healed by the blood
  • and that the devil; he can’t defeat the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on Calvary for our sin, Amen and Amen.

And Lord, because your promises are yes and Amen; in this difficult season especially, we call upon you Yahweh for the promise of Psalm 91 over our household; over our home, even our pets; our children, our parent(s).

“Lord, as we saints who dwell in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty king, you Lord, we constantly pray of you Lord, because you are our refuge and our fortress, our god in whom we trust.  Surely as our Father, God, you shall deliver us, and those for whom we stand in the gap, from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilences before us.  Almighty God shall cover us with His feathers and under his wings we shall take refuge; His truth is our shield and buckler, we shall not be afraid of the cabal that plans in the secret of the night nor of the evil one who goes about roaring like a lion, seeking whom he might consume, nor of the covid variant pestilences that walk in darkness, nor of the mandates and fake vaccines causing destruction in their wake.  A thousand may fall at your saints side and ten thousand at our right hand, but it shall not come near the Lord’s Ecclesia; only with our eyes father shall we look on the boomerang reward of the wicked.  Because we have made you Lord, our refuge, even the most high, we have made you our dwelling place, therefore no evil shall befall us, nor shall any plague come near our dwelling.  For Adonai Elohim, Lord God, you shall give your angels charge over us as you have said in your word, to keep us in all our ways.  That Adonai your mighty angels shall bear us up lest we succumb to this dangerous plague.  We shall instead tread upon the head of this poisonous viper in prayer; trampling its dangers under foot for the written word of the Lord clearly states – because my ecclesia, my saints, have set their love upon me therefore I will deliver them; I will set them on high because they have known my name, they shall call upon me and I will answer them.  I will be with them in trouble, I will deliver them and honor them with long life, I will satisfy them and show them my salvation.”

Therefore in the mighty name of Jesus, whose shed blood forever cleanses our sins, Amen and Amen!

I decree and declare this day, in my life, that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior, and that ‘my’ life is given for him.  Lord hear my prayer.  Use me Lord, make something useful of my life Lord; that I might serve you, whether I have a day or a hundred years or a thousand or millenniums.  That I might serve you.  Glory to you Lord, glory to you Lord in the highest.  Thank you, thank you for freeing us from this debt slavery, thank you for freeing us that we can serve you without fear or dread.  Thank you for always being there Lord; Thank you in your precious name.

Therefore Lord, I Decree and Declare ‘this’ Creed for myself:

I take God the Father to be my God;

I take God the Son to be my Savior;

I take God the Holy Ghost to be my Sanctifier;

I take the Word of God to be my rule;

I take the people of God to be my people;

I do this deliberately, freely, and forever,

And I do hereby dedicate and yield my whole self to the Lord;

AMEN

Jeremiah 51 Analogy for today

{can also be found as a 3-part “podcast” on my RUMBLE Channel}

Today I’m publishing the Blog entry from a 3-part Muse series that you can find the video for on my RUMBLE Channel. But for those who prefer to read, or even copy and use portions, or even the whole “Muse,” use it, edit it, as long as God is glorified, please help yourself, I require no “attestation,” this s God’s work and just a labor of love. I hope you enjoy. This goes for any Blog entry you find on this site. Now, if you mis-use it, or use it for ‘personal gain,’ well it’s not me you’ll have to deal with, remember, Jehovah God sees everything and knows the heart.

This “Muse” just JUMPED off the page at me during my own ‘private-time’ Bible Study in the Book of Jeremiah.  I just “saw” this analogy, and I have since taken it to the Lord in deeper Prayer for over a month before presenting it, seeking, asking if my thoughts about this were off on a tangent of wishful thinking, or were “of God;” and then learning to really let go and let the Holy Spirit guide my notes and the presentation, as well as the Blog entry here.  The impression I keep receiving is the same one I have received, the same “push” I received when I asked God about even doing this YouTube Channel, Website and Blog:  Be Bold!  This is a time for Saints to be BOLD!  Speak from my Word, and speak from your Heart.  The Holy Spirit ‘will’ guide and give you your words, did I not say in Mark 4:24: “Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more.”

And also from Mark 13, the 2nd half of verse 11: “…don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”

So, I ask you to read and consider, I really need your “Berean” eyes and mind here, don’t accept “my” word as truth…accept the Word of the Lord from Jeremiah as Truth, of course; but test and consider, in Prayer, my analogy and my thoughts – test the totality of my words, are they from the Holy Spirit?  Seek God about that, He will reveal.  Am I led by the Holy Spirit to this compilation of things that I’ve learned in my studies that have helped form my thoughts; which include research into the Prophetic; and my fervent Prayers to God for wisdom and discernment, that I’m on the right track; that I am being “Spirit-led.”

It does go along with some of what you have heard from me if you are a consistent listener/reader.  I believe the devil has tried to move too early, which he’s always doing, but this time it’s been a well-planned and major move over years; quietly corrupting people in places of power, placing others already corrupted; but he never fools God, God has been watching him the whole time.  I believe God is NOT done with the Eagle (America) yet, or the world; and that our best days are yet before us if we are believers (including a GREAT Soul Harvest); I believe that God HAS heard the church’s 2 Chronicles 7:14 Prayer (KJV):

“if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

I believe that God KNOWS that many of the sins of the Eagle, have been a minority, not the will of the majority and certainly not the will of the Ecclesia.  I believe God knows the minority has always been for abortion, etc., and that God HAS heard our cries and seen our tears and repentance for the country over that sin and so many others, and I believe He has had “enough.”

I believe that justice and healing are coming; the cup of iniquity is once again full and the “cabal;” of evil; that minority that “thinks” it is in charge (One World Government/Globalist types) and doesn’t acknowledge God, is going to be made to drink it to the very dregs. Mind you, these evil one world Govt “Pseudo-leaders” aren’t Atheists,  they are out and out satanists.  They “tell” you they don’t believe in the devil or the occult but remember – the devil LIES, and so do they! They believe in a supernatural whether they admit it to you or not, and they believe in a god…just the wrong one

I believe the TRUE God, YAHWEH, our Adonai, is on a RESCUE MISSION.

I believe both God’s JUSTICE against this worldwide Cabal of evil, who you haven’t even begun to see the depths of yet (think child & sex trafficking/Epstein Island/drugs/guns/slavery/theft and hoarding of the planet’s wealth so only a few benefit from it, and even more that God WILL reveal); and more important even than THAT – God’s GLORY which will set off a fire of Revival, that the word Revival doesn’t even come close to defining!  This will be a ‘Soul Harvest’ for The Kingdom the likes of which has never swept thru before.  I believe both are “Right At The Door!”  The “unveiling” of the CABAL has begun, even on the mainstream news it’s beginning to be reported.

I believe we are going to see a Jeremiah 51 time.  So…after laying out that whole opening, where am I going.  What is this analogy I see?  I’m gonna try to break it down for you like this:  I’m going to read thru Jeremiah 51; and stop after a verse, or a paragraph, and tell you what I “see” as it might pertain to today.  Remember, analogies aren’t exact; but they paint a picture.

Buckle Up, this might be hard to believe…but that doesn’t mean it is not true, you need to ask THAT of the Lord in your secret place…so, as we travel along our narrow road home, I will present this for your thought, research, and PRAYER over the next few weeks.

Jeremiah 51, from the New Living Testament:

1-4: This is what the Lord says: “I will stir up a destroyer against Babylon and the people of Babylonia. Foreigners will come and winnow her, blowing her away as chaff. They will come from every side to rise against her in her day of trouble. Don’t let the archers put on their armor or draw their bows. Don’t spare even her best soldiers! Let her army be completely destroyed. They will fall dead in the land of the Babylonians, slashed to death in her streets.

OK – what I see here is Babylon is this worldwide Cabal, that whether you want to believe it or not, does exist (think Klaus Schwab, World Economic Council, Bill Gates, Fauci, Central Banks, Bidens/Bushes/Clintons…any “world govt” politician – think Georgia Guidestones {which you should have no doubt, were DESTROYED by God, just recently} and that they want a world of only 500 million people, instead of 7 Billion, all serving them).  Now, who’s the “destroyer?”  Well, 3-fold really, God ultimately will move His hand Himself…you’ll see that in the weather and natural wonders happening even now around the world:  dust storms, Locusts, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, odd Lightning, Storms, things that simply hve never happened before and could only be GOD Himself. Now as to the weather; some moves are God, the wildly destructive ones are the Cabal, using “HARP,” which is technology that can affect weather – a series of HARPs are stationed around the world (bet you didn’t know that, most people think there is just one if they know about it at all). They are used to affect weather patterns, some of your most devastating hurricanes were caused ‘purposefully,’ by the Cabal, testing HARP.  God will be using the weather as well, to defeat attacks against America; some of which have already occurred but you didn’t hear about (Chinese troops massing in Canada along the US border in tunnels, destroyed), and some which are to come and God is going to stop them, using the weather (you’re gonna hear about foreign submarines off the US East Coast sometime soon in the news).

Told you you’d need to STRAP IN for this one…we’re just getting started!  I said 3-fold “destroyer,” didn’t I?  Well, Donald John Trump is the “Modern Day King Cyrus” God has called for this mission (and he WILL be returning to the presidency before the end of 2022, just watch).  Don’t yell at me, God can use whoever He wants…take it up with him.  Which takes us to the 3rd “destroyer’ being raised by God, against today’s representation of “Babylon;” the modern-day Prophets God has raised up recently.  Names you may or may not have heard like: (not by any means a full list) Amanda Grace; Robin Bullock; Timothy Dixon; Manuel Johnson; Kent Christmas; Hank Kunneman; Deborah Williams; Julie Green; Barry Wunsch and others have been raised up by God for this time in history, to prepare the Church, to “Rally the Troops” of the true Ecclesia from within all the differing “Denominations” that were man-made, not GOD-created (Christ’s Church was always supposed to be “ONE,” more on that in an upcoming Muse), if you will, so that the awe-inspiring events that God is going to bring, can be known and understood to “Be God.”  Hallelujah!  So “we,” the Ecclesia, that remnant of the modern day church that HAS remained faithful, WE are the 3rd part of that Destroyer, with the Prophetic leading the charge, for those who have ears to hear.

“No one” who has done the evil work of the Cabal walks away from this:  some will be tried and sentenced – some, civilian trials and Military Tribunals for “treasonous acts” by those in Govt or the military, are in the future over the next year or so; some will die; some will ‘choose’ to die.  Many “world leaders” and many in our own Govt., some of whom we may have even thought were good…but God knows their heart.  No one perpetrating this evil walks away.

Returning to Jeremiah at Chap. 51, verse 5: For the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has not abandoned Israel and Judah.(think Israel and America, Israel’s protector, the Eagle) He is still their God, even though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.”

Like I said above, enough of God’s people, His Ecclesia, has repented, and called out, cried out, and God IS going to heal our land…but it is going to be a FIGHT, the Evil is deeply entrenched…but GOD simply, does NOT lose, ever…

Returning to Jeremiah at Chap. 51, verse 6-9: Flee from Babylon! Save yourselves! Don’t get trapped in her punishment! It is the Lord’s time for vengeance; he will repay her in full. Babylon has been a gold cup in the Lord’s hands, a cup that made the whole earth drunk. The nations drank Babylon’s wine, and it drove them all mad. But suddenly Babylon, too, has fallen. Weep for her. Give her medicine. Perhaps she can yet be healed. We would have helped her if we could, but nothing can save her now. Let her go; abandon her.

What you’ve seen play out; is God’s Mercy, He has allowed what has transpired thus far because He is a merciful God; He has even visited some of these leaders in dreams and visions, warning them to repent, warning them of judgement.  God wishes none should perish, but if you harden your heart long enough, then the time comes when God accepts the decision you yourself have made, remembering His Saints and their cries for Justice, Justice comes.  So…”Flee from Babylon,” what does that mean in a “virtual Babylon,” a “Deep State Cabal” that runs the world behind the scenes and not a physical place?  It means just what you think it means, just what your Pastors and Teachers ‘should’ be telling you:  Stop worrying about building up earthly treasures in their system, treasures that rot away; spend more time seeking God, seeking Jesus, putting on and wearing your Armor, and then walking out God’s Word.  What did James say in Chapter 1, Verse 27:

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

And did not God also say in Matthew 6:24-34

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. 25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Let me make sure I tell you what you already know – God doesn’t mean don’t work, or provide for your family, God don’t do “lazy,” …He means don’t run so hard after that which rusts and breaks, run HARD after GOD…He will ensure if you do that, that you have MORE than enough.

So, you know, let’s end with that, because God ALWAYS says it better…from Ephesians 3:20-21:

20Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Jeremiah 51 Analogy, part 2 of video series

Welcome to Part 2 of this Muse, a short series on Chapter 51 of the book of Jeremiah; where I see an analogy with TODAY.  We left off at Jeremiah 51, verse 9, where God was entreating His Ecclesia to remove themselves from Babylon and my analogy was that today’s worldly Governments; at least those pushing towards a “One World Government,” were in essence a “Babylonia System;” and that God wanted His church to top striving IN that system, to instead TRUST and REST in Him; reserving up treasures and riches that do not rust or corrode, rather than earthly riches the Babylonian System is rigged for you to never reach anyway.

Let’s pick up with Jeremiah 51, verse 9, where we ended with half that verse at “Let her go; abandon her.”: Return now to your own land. For her punishment reaches to the heavens; it is so great it cannot be measured. 10The Lord has vindicated us. Come, let us announce in Jerusalem everything the Lord our God has done.

I know you don’t see it “today,” but this is a day to be CELEBRATING!  The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is on the march, freeing us from an enslavement many of us didn’t realize we were in; and all of us did not know the extent of! Praise The Almighty King Jesus, Glorify HIS Name, and bring ALL Glory, Honor, and Praise!  The Victory is already achieved; already been decreed by Almighty God, it is just plying out in the natural.  Don’t look at the world, look at what is going on with YOU, a Believer!  Remember Justice and Glory – Vengeance and Blessings will be happening alongside.  Stay CLOSE to Jesus, WORSHIP HIM in True JOY and GLADNESS…YOU who know Him, have nothing to fear.

Returning at Verse 11, thru verse 14: 11Sharpen the arrows! Lift up the shields!  For the Lord has inspired the kings of the Medes to march against Babylon and destroy her. This is his vengeance against those who desecrated his Temple. 12Raise the battle flag against Babylon! Reinforce the guard and station the watchmen. Prepare an ambush, for the Lord will fulfill all his plans against Babylon. 13You are a city by a great river, a great center of commerce, but your end has come. The thread of your life is cut. 14The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has taken this vow and has sworn to it by his own name: “Your cities will be filled with enemies, like fields swarming with locusts, and they will shout in triumph over you.”

So…what’s the parallels here?  Well, you might recall that I said Donald J Trump was a “modern-day” Cyrus, anointed by God for such a time as this…well, even if you still watch the Govt Propaganda channels, I mean the Main Stream Media, you know that DJT has been on a relentless campaign against the Deep State/Cabal, that conspired to, and did, steal the last election; not just from him, but from many House and Senate Candidates that actually won but had their votes stolen. AND you might notice, in his rally’s, he’s going around endorsing new candidates, building an ARMY, if you will.  Yes, he’s using the name of the Republican Party, but make no mistake, this is an Anointed group he is endorsing; they, and a FEW currently serving, are going to return America, the Eagle, to true Constitutional Values, and a Country acknowledging itself as truly led by GOD Almighty.  And if that’s not enough for you; the “Desecrated Temple,” is “you.” (well, aren’t YOU the Temple of the LORD)  And hasn’t this “system” pretty much desecrated your life, filling your kids with “The Tranny-hour Book Reading” at your local library, and helping them get Birth Control and abortions behind your backs as parents when they are barely teens; maybe not “your” kids, YET…but you see it’s happening…Gee, I’d call that desecration.  Too much for you…sounds nuts, right?  Is not every event I’ve outlined actually happening?  Step back, and you’ll see it.  The CABAL is going to be defeated, destroyed, and in the political sense, by this Army being raised up to be their enemies…YOUR ARMY, truly representing YOUR values!  These men and women DJT is endorsing have been picked by God, looking into their hearts; and they are going to destroy the political piece of the Deep State.  John Durham, and Military Tribunals for Treason and other crimes, “will be” destroying them on other fronts.  And for those wondering, YES, HRC is going down, among many others; some for crimes you haven’t even heard about yet…but you will.  Stick with me, I swear I’m “not” crazy.

Let’s return to Jeremiah 51, verses 15-19:

15The Lord made the earth by his power, and he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens. 16When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds to rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from his storehouses. 17The whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge! The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are a fraud. These idols have no breath or power. 18Idols are worthless; they are ridiculous lies! On the day of reckoning they will all be destroyed. 19But the God of Israel is no idol! He is the Creator of everything that exists, including his people, his own special possession. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

Well, this is simply a break, if you will, to give GOD the Praise, Honor, and Glory that HE deserves as the maker and sustainer of all there is!  Great Verses!

Let’s return to Verse 20-23:

20“You are my battle-ax and sword,” says the Lord. “With you I will shatter nations and destroy many kingdoms. 21With you I will shatter armies — destroying the horse and rider, the chariot and charioteer. 22With you I will shatter men and women, old people and children, young men and young women. 23With you I will shatter shepherds and flocks, farmers and oxen, captains and officers.

Quite simply, this is DJT under the “Cyrus anointing” that God has on him.  Under his leadership, which is under God’s direction; Trump will be victorious over the CABAL, not just the Deep State in the US; but the World Banks and World Economic Council; UN, ‘all’ the Globalists; their time is DONE.  DJT is working kinda “half in the background” now, not sitting as the President…but before the end of 2022, he will be returned to that office, watch and see.  Just “how” that is going to happen, God hasn’t revealed to any of His prophets, just that it IS going to happen; and while I’m no Prophet, I feel it in my soul, in the secret place…a calmness about all this; that JUSTICE finally IS coming…and not just about politics; about EVERYTHING.

Let’s return to Jeremiah 51, verses 24-26:

24“I will repay Babylon and the people of Babylonia for all the wrong they have done to my people in Jerusalem,” says the Lord. 25“Look, O mighty mountain, destroyer of the earth! I am your enemy,” says the Lord. “I will raise my fist against you, to knock you down from the heights. When I am finished, you will be nothing but a heap of burnt rubble. 26You will be desolate forever. Even your stones will never again be used for building. You will be completely wiped out,” says the Lord.

OK, look, there is going to come an unmistakable move of God…at the perfect moment, that is going to leave NO DOUBT, that no matter what GOD may use men to accomplish, the only real reason we will win, is God’s Hand will move; will act, in unmistakable manner.  Look, if you just think this is a fun story to listen to, that’s fine by me…but try to remember it when God’s hand moves; so if you are a believer, you will KNOW you have nothing to fear, but should be dropping onto your knees in shouts of Hallelujah and Prayerful Thanksgiving that your world has been given a reprieve by almighty God Himself.  And if you’re NOT a Believer…and the move of God’s hand doesn’t cause you to cry out to Him in Repentance…I’m not sure what would.  Needless to say, as the Lord said in verses 25-26, the “Cabal” will be completely destroyed…none of them “walks away.”

Moving on to Jeremiah 51: 27-33

27Raise a signal flag to the nations. Sound the battle cry! Mobilize them all against Babylon. Prepare them to fight against her! Bring out the armies of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz. Appoint a commander, and bring a multitude of horses like swarming locusts! 28Bring against her the armies of the nations — led by the kings of the Medes and all their captains and officers. 29The earth trembles and writhes in pain, for everything the Lord has planned against Babylon stands unchanged. Babylon will be left desolate without a single inhabitant. 30Her mightiest warriors no longer fight. They stay in their barracks, their courage gone. They have become like women. The invaders have burned the houses and broken down the city gates. 31The news is passed from one runner to the next as the messengers hurry to tell the king that his city has been captured. 32All the escape routes are blocked. The marshes have been set aflame, and the army is in a panic. 33This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Babylon is like wheat on a threshing floor, about to be trampled. In just a little while her harvest will begin.”

This whole set of verses outlines that God has selected NEW Leaders, not just for America, but throughout the world, and many “current” Govts. Are going to fall, or at least their leadership is going to be replaced.

Ohhh, and Bibi Netanyahu fans…God isn’t done with him yet; watch Israel during the coming commotion, Bibi is returning to power in Israel.  The “Babylonian System” currently running things, is about to hitting the “Threshing Floor” of Almighty God and be trampled.

Ok, let’s stop there for now…you have no idea how exhausting, yet exhilarating, this is.  But I’ve got to end Part 2 here. Please stick with me on these longer Muses, there’s a LOT to unpack, I know…I’m challenging some things “I’ve” thought for a long time; but I truly am in deep Prayer about this all.  So Pray for me, will you, I’m asking The Lord for more, and more, and it’s a bit overwhelming…but Glorious.

End of Part 2 of this series.

Jeremiah 51 Analogy; Part 3

Welcome to part 3 of the Lord’s Analogy of Jeremiah 51 to the current events of today.  Remember Pilgrims, nothing new under the sun.  Types and shadows of future events, and analogies of past events.  The names and types changes…the general circumstances follow a pattern.  We left off with Jeremiah 51: verse 33, where God was warning Babylon (the Babylonian system) that He was about to trample her on the threshing floor.  Verse 34 picks up with Israel crying about how Babylon has treated Israel and then moves into the Lord addressing them with how He is going to handle the situation:

Jeremiah, verse 34-44:

34“King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and drained us of strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out of our own country. 35Make Babylon suffer as she made us suffer,” say the people of Zion. “Make the people of Babylonia pay for spilling our blood,” says Jerusalem. 36This is what the Lord says to Jerusalem: “I will be your lawyer to plead your case, and I will avenge you. I will dry up her river, as well as her springs, 37and Babylon will become a heap of ruins, haunted by jackals. She will be an object of horror and contempt, a place where no one lives. 38Her people will roar together like strong lions. They will growl like lion cubs. 39And while they lie inflamed with all their wine, I will prepare a different kind of feast for them. I will make them drink until they fall asleep, and they will never wake up again,” says the Lord. 40“I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams and goats to be sacrificed. 41“How Babylon is fallen — great Babylon, praised throughout the earth! Now she has become an object of horror among the nations. 42The sea has risen over Babylon; she is covered by its crashing waves. 43Her cities now lie in ruins; she is a dry wasteland where no one lives or even passes by. 44And I will punish Bel, the god of Babylon, and make him vomit up all he has eaten. The nations will no longer come and worship him. The wall of Babylon has fallen!

OK, a lot here… The Analogy?  Well, the Globalists/Cabal/UN/World Economic Council/call them what you will, has had the world under a “debt-system” that has swallowed what America used to call the American Dream…and kept the rest of the world from having ANY dreams other than poverty.  The elites have stolen, and stolen, and stolen, and took not just your principle, but interest on it till you just can’t get ahead; all while brainwashing you that you need more earthly treasures; that rust and decay, that keep you in that debt cycle.  Those who see are crying out for vengeance against the “system” so they can be what Almighty God had intended.

The LORD “has” heard the repentance and heard the cry of this ecclesia and His response here to us is in the rest of verses 36-44 that I read.  The LORD will avenge, God is on a “rescue mission,” the “Cabal” (to keep it simple) will be completely destroyed, and not only that, verse 44 tells us that the riches stolen from you will be returned…don’t ask me how…but there is a pouring out of God’s Glory for His Ecclesia; to give them the provisions needed to truly take the Gospel to the WHOLE WORLD.  Abundance is coming!  But you need to remember the 2nd half of Verse 44, no longer worship the worldly system, do not use the Touch of Glory you receive to hoard it, God’s riches are ALWAYS meant to PASS THRU YOU, Blessing You as they pass from you to others.  Just like you don’t keep the Gospel to yourself, you don’t keep God’s Blessings to yourself…the more they pass thru you, the more YOU will end up Blessed…the more you hoard, the less you’ll have…in ALL things.  The timeless principle of reaping and sowing…

We go back to Jeremiah 51, picking up at verse 45 thru 50

45“Come out, my people, flee from Babylon. Save yourselves! Run from the Lord’s fierce anger. 46But do not panic; don’t be afraid when you hear the first rumor of approaching forces. For rumors will keep coming year by year. Violence will erupt in the land as the leaders fight against each other. 47For the time is surely coming when I will punish this great city and all her idols. Her whole land will be disgraced, and her dead will lie in the streets. 48Then the heavens and earth will rejoice, for out of the north will come destroying armies against Babylon,” says the Lord. 49“Just as Babylon killed the people of Israel and others throughout the world, so must her people be killed. 50Get out, all you who have escaped the sword! Do not stand and watch—flee while you can! Remember the Lord, though you are in a far-off land, and think about your home in Jerusalem.”

The analogy for our times?  Well, once again Almighty God is warning you, to come out of bowing down to the world’s system, to stop craving the things that rust and decay, that place you deeper and deeper in debt to the world system so that all you are ever doing is bowing down to it by the paying of interest, interest, interest…more work, more hours, more debt, more “stuff!”  Stop it, save yourselves, run “from” the Lord’s fierce anger at the Babylonian “system” trying to destroy you, and INTO the WORD, into the Arms of God’s GRACE; break the world’s “programming.”

The GRACE and MERCY of Almighty God is available to His Saints, as shown by the first part of verse 46 – “Do not panic, do not be afraid when you hear the first rumor of approaching forces.”  When God’s hand moves mightily, and ‘obviously,’ don’t panic, Pray, and Pray in Thanksgiving!

The time of Justice is coming for the CABAL; in various ways…the uncovering of deeds, the overturning of Courts till they are filled with Judges who will serve real Justice; Military Tribunals for Treason, the stripping of all they have plundered from you, right before your eyes.  And in the political realm, God is preparing an Army of those whose hearts will be right, and they will remove and over-rule the wicked laws and decrees that have been a weight on you for so long.  And as I have told you, many will die, some by their own hand, forgetting that God’s ultimate Justice awaits them there; some will be given death sentences, some life or long sentences for their crimes…and not just in the US…everything that has been plotted in the darkness will see Adonai’s Justice.

And you are not to look back with “craving” at the fall of this system, as Lot’s wife did, you are to Praise God and pray forward for a brighter future and a Great Harvest…you should prepare to work IN that Harvest; many lost and confused “will” begin to seek God, to seek Jesus…and you must help them, you must open your arms and your hearts to them; including some whose repentance may surprise you.  Who are you to question God’s Grace for another if He had Grace for you?  Help them onto that Pilgrim Path, to New Jerusalem.

We pick up with Jeremiah 51, verse 51 and 52

51“We are ashamed,” the people say. “We are insulted and disgraced because the Lord’s Temple has been defiled by foreigners.” 52“Yes,” says the Lord, “but the time is coming when I will destroy Babylon’s idols. The groans of her wounded people will be heard throughout the land.

The Lord Himself will cleanse the Temple of your heart, defiled by the world’s system, if you but fully turn to Him.

Back to the text: Verses 53 thru 58

53Though Babylon reaches as high as the heavens and makes her fortifications incredibly strong, I will still send enemies to plunder her. I, the Lord, have spoken! 54“Listen! Hear the cry of Babylon, the sound of great destruction from the land of the Babylonians. 55For the Lord is destroying Babylon. He will silence her loud voice. Waves of enemies pound against her; the noise of battle rings through the city. 56Destroying armies come against Babylon. Her mighty men are captured, and their weapons break in their hands. For the Lord is a God who gives just punishment; he always repays in full. 57I will make her officials and wise men drunk, along with her captains, officers, and warriors. They will fall asleep and never wake up again!” says the King, whose name is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 58This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: “The thick walls of Babylon will be leveled to the ground, and her massive gates will be burned. The builders from many lands have worked in vain, for their work will be destroyed by fire!”

As Moses said before the Red Sea in Exodus 14:13-14:

13But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. 14The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

And now, to finish the 51st Chapter of Jeremiah we have verses 59-64

59The prophet Jeremiah gave this message to Seraiah son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah, a staff officer, when Seraiah went to Babylon with King Zedekiah of Judah. This was during the fourth year of Zedekiah’s reign.60Jeremiah had recorded on a scroll all the terrible disasters that would soon come upon Babylon—all the words written here. 61He said to Seraiah, “When you get to Babylon, read aloud everything on this scroll. 62Then say, ‘Lord, you have said that you will destroy Babylon so that neither people nor animals will remain here. She will lie empty and abandoned forever.’ 63When you have finished reading the scroll, tie it to a stone and throw it into the Euphrates River. 64Then say, ‘In this same way Babylon and her people will sink, never again to rise, because of the disasters I will bring upon her.’” This is the end of Jeremiah’s messages.

So what’s the analogy here: The Lord has sent Prophets, dreams, and even Angelic messengers to many of these CABAL “leaders,” a Grace-filled God, unbeknownst to you, has been trying to reach them, but instead of repentance, most have taken the route of Pharaoh of Egypt, hardening their hearts…and their fate will be the same as his, utter destruction.  I’ll leave you with this to chew on; the Eagle, America WILL rise from this, and return to true Constitutional principles…and her new Capital, will NOT be Washington, DC.

When you see the calamity begin, and there will be calamity as the tables are overturned, and it will “seem” darker, right before the Hand of God upsets the whole chessboard in one move – in “One Day!” Pray, Pray, Pray, draw close to Yeshua, DEVOUR YOUR BIBLE, and Trust God for a brighter tomorrow…because “the end” is not yet.

Get ready to help make those wayward children, family members and friends a part of God’s Kingdom as His Glory Falls one last time…

If you’ve stuck with me to the end of this analogy, Thank You, I hope it has made you think and I hope it has blessed you.

This is One Pilgrim, wishing you Shalom…be prepared…Adonai Elohim’s hand is already in motion; it’s TIME!  End of Part 3; end of Jeremiah 51 – an analogy for our times.

Who is “One Pilgrim,” and what Ordination and/or Denomination does he speak under.

I have been asked by some who have found my little ministry – Who is “One Pilgrim,” what’s my story, why am I here “now,” sending out video podcast musings; what is my calling, my denomination, my “doctrine,” what denomination have I been ordained under to speak, what authority.  Mind you, these questions have not been asked of any mean demeanor, they are honest questions; and so I will strive here to answer them, apologizing beforehand if my opinions on some things appear a bit harsh.  I apologize not for the opinion, mind you, but that my demeanor in speaking it out might seem harsh, that is simply my passion; I seek only to enlighten as to who I am and where I stand; and perhaps to warn others who may have been swayed by those who would divide, and thus defeat, the very Ecclesia of God.  They will NOT, in the end, succeed, but they have done much damage.  My next Muse will be about Denominationalism and Religion; and how in my opinion, they have nearly destroy God’s Church; but today is just the answer to the question:  Who am I to be speaking and teaching, God’s Word.

First of all, let me say this overall:  NO CHRISTIAN needs a “worldly ordination” from any denomination to speak the WORD of God.  The Great Commission was given to EVERY believer by Jesus Himself in (Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; and in Acts 1:6-11, and many other places in other words).  You are not to keep to yourself the storehouse of knowledge of God, you are to SHARE it, because it is in doing so that God has chosen as the methodology to spread the Gospel.  Remember the parable of the Rich Fool from Luke, Chapter 12;16-21:

16Jesus told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’

20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

I tell you, although this parable is most often taught regarding only possessions, it was NOT just about money or goods, it was about the storehouse of “knowledge” too; please don’t “pew sit” and learn and do nothing with it; or even leave church, go home and research, and learn, learn, learn, going deeper with God, but never SHARING.  Because when you come before Jesus and He asks:  What did you do with Me…with My Gospel; you DON’T want to say “Lord, I held you tightly in my heart.”  NO!  Remember the other parable, that of the Three Servants in Matt., Chapter 25, verses 14, and I’m gonna read all the way to verse 46, the end of the chapter because it is mightily pertinent!  Jesus speaking:

14 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone. 15He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip.

16 “The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. 17The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more. 18But the servant who received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s money.

19 “After a long time their master returned from his trip and called them to give an account of how they had used his money. 20The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more.’

21 “The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!

22 “The servant who had received the two bags of silver came forward and said, ‘Master, you gave me two bags of silver to invest, and I have earned two more.’

23 “The master said, ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

24 “Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. 25I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’

26 “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, 27why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’

28 “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. 29To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away. 30Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

31 “But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. 32All the nations/peoples will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. 36I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? 39When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.

42For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’

44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”

So you see, “I,” MUST do what I do, I in my way, and you too, perhaps in a different way, but each of us must work for the Kingdom; the blessings of God only increase to you, when you SHARE them with others.  Remember, a closed fist cannot receive anything…only an open hand.

So, hopefully I haven’t gone to far afield to reign this back in to about my ministry, answering my friend’s questions.

Suffice to say, No Denomination, no ordination of man, holds the right to God’s Word.  I’m not against how anyone achieved their knowledge, or against anyone else’s Ordination or even Denomination…I think there is ‘something good’ in at least most of them, some much, some sadly slipping into little or none; my point simply being, I neither possess any official ordination, nor do I require one to speak the WORD of God.

Ok, on to more specifically me.  I won’t bore you with my life’s story, as it isn’t pertinent here; suffice to say:  I am you, just another God-created human being who has received and believed The Gospel, been Baptized into new life in Christ, and have accepted that “The Great Commission” belongs to me to carry out. I’ve had mountaintops and valleys, just like you, just like us all.  So…what about my story IS pertinent to where my life is “right now,” and where did this ministry come from?  Which includes, I guess, why should you consider listening to me and anything I have to say.

Well, as I have said ‘generally,’ no man needs a “worldly ordination” or denomination to embrace “The Great Commission.” I have no “Denomination,” that is a man-made, not God-made creation, I am simply a “Christian,” a “Christ-follower.”  Denominations, as I will address in an upcoming Muse have, in my never to be humble opinion (that’s right, I said never to be humble…it’s “my” opinion, I’m not humble about it, I’ve researched it and it’s where I stand…I stand there ‘with’ an open mind, but I admit, a difficult to change open mind-I’ve done my research, and I’ve walked a few miles in those moccasins), anyway, I am not Denominational. Denominations have almost destroyed God’s Ecclesia, they are a tool of satan; as is “Religion,” another man-coined word not given by God, but used by man to create “rules” God never gave.  Man has created, from simple Christianity, a House Divided against itself, and therefore weak and ineffectual.  Without the very command of Yeshua Himself that the the Gates of Hell would never prevail against His Ecclesia, the church would  have imploded upon itself due to it’s “divisions,” which man likes to call Denominations long ago.  But there are TRUE members of God’s Ecclesia in nearly every Christian Denomination, members who LOVE Jesus, who are let down and often led astray, by a “Denomination” that insists on putting GOD in “their” box, saying God only works the way they say…literally picking and choosing what parts of God’s WORD they make RULES from, with which they put their members under the weight of; and then change when it suits them…a BIG rabbit-hole for later…example: “Drag Queen Pastor in the Methodist Church, causing yet another denominational split!”

I know, you’re going “what!,” like I said, I will address that in another Muse…if you want to throw up your lunch, just “Google” Drag Queen Pastor…you’ll find some stories, sadly.

Trying to stay “on track” – As far as what “authority” I speak under:  I speak under God’s authority, as ANY believer can (see Matt 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; and in Acts 1:6-11, and many other places in other words as stated earlier); I try to share what I have learned from scripture and teachings; if I do hear a word from the Holy Spirit, I speak it.  I try to ask questions that I myself need answering,I claim no specific calling, I’m not qualified, nor do I seek to Pastor a church under any denomination; nor do I claim to be a replacement for anyone to attend church…PLEASE – find a good church, support it and work to make it better; if you listen to me, meet in person as well, with a body of true believers in Jesus Christ. I do not serve as an elder or leader in any church currently; although I do serve “in” my home church, and happily so.

My “current” mission came about last year; when my son was hospitalized with a Brain Tumor appeared out of nowhere.  Along with others from our church, my wife and I requested Prayer for our son, I sought God’s GRACE, like I never had before.

I found myself in tears before God for my son, who is a Dad with 2 children, one a newborn, and has always been one of the most hard-working and responsible men I’ve known.

Well, God answered our Prayers, and my son was healed PRIOR to any Doctor doing anything except “taking pictures” so they could figure out what they might do, and telling my son to prepare his family because the tumor was in a difficult placebo operate. Turns out it wasn’t difficult for God.  Miraculously healed, and symptoms gone, my son is back hard at work and fathering his family, Praise God.

During this veil of tears before the Throne of Grace, and spurred on by God’s Faithfulness to us, I was convicted of my own “lukewarm” Christianity, perhaps less lukewarm than some and more than others, but in MY estimation, and God’s, still lukewarm.

Right there, on my face, in tears, I repented and asked God to do something with my life, such as it was.  I was working full-time for the US Govt., sadly a cesspool of worldliness, which I found myself more and more at angst in that environment. It was truly years away from “retirement,” if you “did the numbers to be ‘comfortable,’” for many reasons, mostly outside of my control, I decided to retire.

My wife and I had many discussions about this, and my possible dates of retirement kept moving back earlier and earlier…but still “running the numbers,’ and making faith-less excuses.

While all this was happening, I decided to try doing a YouTube podcast, I was fooling around with it, and not even sure of my overall topic; at the time I was not only a Christian but a “News Junkie,” and could easily post my opinions on matters without much work, many folks do that and make a lot of money.  But that wasn’t where God was leading me in my private moments of prayer.

I decided to do a “Bible Study” podcast, sharing God’s WORD; positive affirmations that are Biblically-based, and at times, historical background that more readily explains scripture; Thus making it easier to understand  what God says:

Hopefully I touch a few lives, doing my part to reach the world with the Gospel.

So, I started “One Pilgrim’s Musings,” a take-off and “hat-tip” to John Bunyan of the famous Christian book “Pilgrim’s Progress.”  I made a couple videos which not many people watched, but hey, you gotta start somewhere.  I was still working full time, and didn’t have much time, but I kept at it, adding “One Pilgrim’s Journey” website, again, a project I thought initially I would slowly move into when I eventually retired; and also posting to RUMBLE.com at times instead of YouTube, because YouTube isn’t a very Christian-friendly platform. If you say certain things, they take your channel; but it does reach more people, so I don’t discard it, I want to reach as many as possible.

Doing a few videos and playing with the Website just wasn’t enough, in Prayer, going deeper with God, I found Him asking me where was my Faith?  I’m a bit of a ROCK, so it took me a while, I asked “what do you mean, am I not being Faithful Lord.”  Well, the answer, was “Yes, but then No.”  I didn’t understand.  You see, sometimes God MUST purge some things from your life if He is to use you.  I’m NOT telling anyone else to do as I have done, every walk with God is individual.  Working for the VA was a stumbling block in my walk with God; destroying my peace on an almost daily basis in ways i won’t go into here, let’s just say it’s difficult to serve God with an angry heart and no peace…never mind all the “why’s,” that’s a whole story in and of itself.  My Blood pressure wasn’t good, I was angry nearly every day, I didn’t feel the way my job was changing that I was serving or helping any veterans with what I was doing (I worked for the VA), yet there I stayed because I was trusting God with my Son’s Tumor, with my other things; but I wasn’t REALLY trusting Him, with my very life, with my family, with my patient wife, who watched me struggle with this, often giving good advice and telling me the “when’ was up to me, that I had to work that out with God,  and I must say, she had, and probably has, a greater Faith, which I am ever Thankful for…I couldn’t do any of this without her trust and belief that GOD has us taken care of already.

I was counting pennies and trusting my worldly skills and the world to care for me.  I’m recovering from that and my Faith is growing. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I HAD to leave, to retire now, a few years before “I” felt I was properly prepared, I had to purge what was destroying my peace and my health; and ‘truly” trust the very God who several years ago pushed my spirit to do several things that, just perhaps, He had already planned for this time.

Anyway, here I am, with my beautiful Bride who God has given a ministry with her Grandchildren, taking Big Plunge after Big Plunge, drawing closer every day to My Savior, and sharing whatever I might know and whatever I might hear, about and from Him, with anyone who will listen or read, God will give the increase as He sees fit and as He sees me being Faithful.

Yes, longer than I’d intended, seems it always is, I’m bursting with things to say, often God has to tell me “Rest,” “My Words, My Timing, My Teaching.”  For a Christian of many years and Battles, I feel like a newborn.

So…I hope I haven’t alienated anyone who holds to a particular Denomination, I don’t; but I feel all of them were legitimate moves of God with certain strengths, that man took, and with satan’s help, caused division and separation.  Jesus wanted followers, not Denominations.  Brothers, Sisters, let us be as Jesus wanted and stated in John 17:20-21 when He prayed to the Father:

20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.

Well, longer than I had thought it would be, my dearest Brother Ronard Kishombe, and others, I hope I have answered your questions about me and my ministry, and I hope that prayerfully, you will continue to find this simple Man of God worthy of your time.  Glory to God!

This is One Pilgrim, wishing you God’s Shalom…I’m OUT…

America – is she a “Covenant Nation?”

America was settled and began under Covenant to God

Early settlers of America wanted their new land to share a binding covenant with God. Christian historian Eddie Hyatt, author of The Great Prayer Awakening of 1857-58, said those who came to Jamestown starting in 1607, the original English settlers, put THIS in their Virginia Compact.

“To propagate, to expand the gospel, the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ and to take the gospel to people who were ‘lying in darkness and had no knowledge of the one true God.’  They said that was the reason they had come,” Hyatt stated.

Hyatt says John Winthrop, leading 700 Puritans to Massachusetts in 1631, said it like this: “‘Others may come to the New World for wealth and furs; We have another goal, another end. We have entered into an explicit covenant with God to be His people in this New World.’

They wanted to be, and WE ARE, that city on a hill. They wanted to be a model of Christianity for the rest of the world to see.”  Now are we a perfect model, of course not, but we ARE a “Covenant Model” and God has NOT abandoned us!

The Pilgrims arriving in Massachusetts stated the same in 1620. Jerry Newcombe, author of The Book That Made America, paraphrased what they wrote down:

“‘Having undertaken a voyage for the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.’”

Newcombe explained of the Pilgrims and Puritans who followed,

“They came for God as opposed to coming for gold.”

Moving on to how our Founding Father’s Dedicated America to YAHWEH:

The church that was near the World Trade Center twin towers that fell, was where the founding fathers met to pray. In the stain glass above the front door is the name of God in Hebrew. Yod hay vav hay.  So once again, I tell you, this nation has NOT been abandoned by God, no, this nation was dedicated to YAHWEH.

Next time you think Jehovah God has abandoned us; think on this that I just outlined:  Israel was chosen BY Yahweh – America is the ONLY country, that was settled FOR God. America, from it’s inception CHOSE Yahweh; and Yahweh made America strong and then has always had her protect Israel, as well as the fact that The Gospel, even today, goes out over 95%, FROM America to the world!

We are NOT done yet folks; do NOT believe the main stream news; as a matter of fact, for the sake of your joy and sanity, STOP listening to them!!!. Yahweh is working, even now, His hand is moving, JUSTICE and GLORY are coming. First He is opening eyes worldwide to the EVIL that has been hiding among us…then DELIVERANCE, JUSTICE, and GLORY, things you have never seen before!  A BILLION SOUL HARVEST!  You want to be “The Land Of Goshen” over this next short period.  What was the Land of Goshen? Many of you know, but for those who don’t, Goshen was where the Israelites lived in Egypt and when God brought the plaques on Pharaoh and Egypt, the plaques did not touch Goshen; and then, at the end, at Passover, “The Blood” (for us, the Blood of Jesus Christ shed on the Cross for our sins) over the doorposts caused the Angel of Death to Passover the Israelite households. So in the analogy to today’s time, with “The Blood” of Jesus already covering you, what’s “YOUR” Goshen you ask?  Your Full Armor of God!  Ephesians 6:11-18 is your “New Testament Goshen!” and I hope you see that as I quote:

11Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15For shoes, put on the readiness to Preach the Good News of peace with God, so that you will be fully prepared.  16In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

So in essence, when I tell you we’re NOT done yet folks, ”DON’T Doubt me!”  Instead PRAY!!!

Listen people – we’re ALL in a hurry for things to be different, either here on this earth, or by “going home.”

Consider this:  how long would YOU wait for “your” child, how far would YOU go to give them that one last chance…  or are you the type:  Hey, I’m saved, “literally” to “Hell” with them, let’s end this…  Well GOD, YAHWEH, is the Creator GOD of even the most scarred soul, so if He wants to WAIT to see if they come Home…I’m good with that…

I’m frustrated too, but I TRUST in My FATHER, and HIS HEART.  HIS timing will be perfect, and maybe, just maybe, someone YOU LOVE, who He also LOVES, is who He is waiting for…

Me…I’m not leaving “The WALL” for NOTHING; I’m not failing to “Armor-Up” every day! And I’ll NOT Stand Down, I’ll NOT Shut Up, I’ll NOT Back Down; and I’ll Stand In The Gap here in “Spiritual Goshen” for as many as I can till they come “Home” to Faith in Jesus, put ON their Armor, and join this Pilgrim walk.  I want a CROWDED Narrow road, not an empty one where for long stretches I walk alone.

And me, I’m not special, I have NO strength of my own to stand here, I’m nobody…but GOD DIED FOR ME!!!…it is HIS Strength I stand in, and when I fall in my human frailness, the hand of Jesus, thru His Holy Spirit, extends to me, and I get back up, add some polish to the Armor where my fall scrapped it up, and having done all, I STAND!  What else could I ever do???

What about YOU???  What kind of spirit are you, a Caleb Spirit, a Joshua Spirit, BOLD in the LORD, or are you of the other 10?  I’m calling you all out to BE Caleb and Joshua Spirits!  Some of you are, some of you need to REPENT of being of the spirit of the other 10.  Stop looking at the Enemy!  Look UP, look to Jesus, the Author and finisher of your Faith; He hasn’t abandoned you, He DIED for you!  When YOU, and I, hammered the nails through His hands and feet, He Loved us then, THAT’S why He came…He STILL Loves us now, the Cup of Iniquity He drank for YOU, is still, and always WILL BE, EMPTY!

…the cup of the enemies Iniquity however, is once again overflowing and WILL be dealt with, One More GREAT MOVE of GOD, a Billion-Plus Soul Harvest…don’t miss it, get your Armor OUT of the Closet, polish it up, the narrow road is before us, as is the wide…CHOOSE, as Joshua said in the last part of Verse 15, Chapter 24 of the Book named after him:  “…Choose THIS DAY whom YOU will serve, but as for me and MY house, we will serve the Lord.”

OK, this grew from a few words as I started to put them down on the page…I Love That!  Thank You Holy Spirit!

Some facts about America’s Covenant relationship with God, a little about the future and the modern-day “virtual” representation of the Land of Goshen that the Armor of God can represent, and a Challenge to everyone…what kind of spirit are you???  Choose THIS DAY!  The Harvest is READY, the workers are few…are YOU a “Harvester,” or a “Complainer???”

I’ll leave you with that Challenge, that it is my fervent Prayer we ALL rise to!

And now, till we meet again, this is One Pilgrim, Armored Up and and Standing, and wishing your God’s Shalom…I’m out.

Independence Day Prayer 2

A Prayer That God’s Will May Be Done in Our Nation

Glorious Father, Adonai Elohim, Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, maker and sustainer of all there is; remind us this Independence Day weekend that You have shown us what is good and right, in what You require of us. To do justly; to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you, our God. We ask Glorious Father, in the name above all names, Jesus, that as your ecclesia, we might be bestowed with the wisdom to humble ourselves before You; seeking Your will for our lives and for this great nation. Help us in our nation in this tumultuous time, to work as never before to spread the Gospel here and worldwide; to strengthen our families, to give our children, indeed all Your children, hope and a moral foundation for the future.  May we be granted the wisdom and guidance of your Holy Spirit so that the loving desire of our hearts is to serve and Glorify Jesus; and in so doing, serve one another, as Jesus taught us.

Our Adonai Elohim, we pray in Worship and Praise in the Almighty name of Yeshua/Jesus, our Messiah, Lord, God, and Everlasting King, Amen.

…this is One Pilgrim, wishing you a Blessed “Holy=Day” weekend, Shalom, Shalom…I’m out.

Independence Day Prayer 1

Gracious Father, Lord, our Adonai Elohim,

There can be no greater feeling of liberty than to experience freedom from sin and death that you provided for those who, repent, believe, and confess through water Baptism, Jesus Christ as Lord.   Because of the sacrifice of Messiah, today our hearts and  souls are free to praise you.  For this, we are eternally thankful.

As we approach this, America’s Independence Day Father, I am reminded also, of all those who have sacrificed for my freedom; following the example our Savior, your one and only son Yeshua, our Messiah.  Let us therefore, not take our freedoms, both physical and spiritual, for granted.  As we enjoy and celebrate America’s Independence Day, which both Yeshua and all those who gave their lives that we might enjoy it, would want; may we also take some time to always remember that very high prices were paid for both our soul’s freedom and our earthly freedoms; they cost others their very lives.

Lord, today, we Bless and Praise Yeshua; and ask a blessing on those who have served, and continue to give their lives for our freedoms.  Precious Father, in the name of, and for the Glory of Jesus, with favor and bounty, meet the needs of all those who serve and their their families who serve as well; and especially Lord, watch over and comfort the families who gave that ultimate price for freedom, a cost even You Father, are intimately familiar with.

Our Glorious Adonai Elohim, we are so thankful for this nation.  For all the sacrifices others have made to build and defend this country, we are grateful.  We Thank you and Praise You for the opportunities and freedoms we have in the United States of America, and we ask you Father, in Jesus’ name, to help us spread both the Gospel and those freedoms, worldwide; and helping us never to take these blessings for granted.

Help Us Father, through Yeshua residing within us in the person of the Holy Spirit, to live lives in a way that glorifies you, Father God. Give us the strength and wisdom and guidance by your Holy Spirit to be a blessing in someone’s life today, and grant us the opportunity to lead someone into the true freedom that can be found only in knowing Jesus, our Messiah.

It is that mighty name I pray, Amen…

Bless You Pilgrims, enjoy your “Holy-Day” weekend; I’ll see you tomorrow with another Independence Weekend Holiday Prayer.  Shalom, Shalom…

…this is One Pilgrim…I’m out…

Paul’s Prayers to Ephesians rewritten in 1st person. Be Blessed, Pray unceasingly!

Ephesians 1:15-20 and 3:14-end – Paul’s Prayers for Spiritual Wisdom and Spiritual Growth.

Glorious Father, Adonai Elohim, I come before you LORD GOD, Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, asking that you bestow on your servant the Spirit of wisdom and insight so that I might grow in my knowledge of you, Adonai. I pray that my heart will be flooded with light so that I can understand the confident hope You have given to those You have called — Your Holy people who are your rich and glorious inheritance.

I also pray Father that I will understand the incredible greatness of YOUR power for us who believe in You. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at Your right hand in the heavenly realms.

When I think of all this Glorious Lord, I can but fall to my knees before You, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. In the mighty name of Jesus, Father, I pray that from Your glorious, unlimited resources You will empower your servant with inner strength through Your Holiness. May Christ make his home in My heart as I trust in You. May my roots grow down deeper into Your love and keep me strong; and may I have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep Your love love is, precious Father. May I experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then I will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that flows from Your Holy Spirit.

And now all glory to You Father, who are able, through Your mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to God in His Ecclesia, and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Who was St. Valentine and a history of Valentine’s Day

As it turns out, there are a few possible origins and many stories surrounding  Valentine’s Day, which we nowadays celebrate with Cards, Flowers, Chocolates and such, as a day of the heart…of “Eros,” or erotic, Love.  It did NOT start out this way; it started as AGAPE Love, and as a refusal of one man, to allow the Government to over-ride the teachings of the Bible; specifically in this instance, about Marriage.  Let’s take a short look at a couple of the back-stories, some fascinating things I found, and then spend some time with the origin story I believe is closest to the truth.  By the way, I was on another track for a Muse, which we’ll get to later, but – hat-tip to Pastor Joe Domico this morning at church, for peaking my interest and sending me down this rabbit-hole I now share with you.

Debauchery you say!?

First let’s look at maybe the most outlandish theory, or at least the one most likely to make your jaw drop surrounding the origins of Valentine’s Day:

Feb. 14th was designated a Catholic “Holy-Day” (holiday) by Pope Gelasius I in order to replace the ancient Roman festival Lupercalia, a celebration of fertility dedicated to the Roman god of agriculture, Faunas, and Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

That feast of Roman debauchery was from Feb. 13-15 and involved a ritual where an order of Roman priests sacrificed a goat and a dog, then ran naked through the streets, “gently slapping” women with the blood-soaked hides of the sacrificed animals. Young women would actually line up for the men to slap them with the hides, which they believed promoted fertility. Following this flagellation was a tradition in which men selected women’s names at random from a jar to decide who would remain together for the next year, or, if they fell in love, they’d marry.

This is what Pope Gelasius I muddled up in the 5th century by combining St. Valentine’s Day with Lupercalia in an attempt to expel the pagan ritual. But the festival was more of a theatrical interpretation of what it had once been by this time anyway. One historian, Noel Lenski from the University of Colorado states:  “It was a little more of a drunken revel by then, the Christians basically just put clothes back on it. That didn’t stop it from being a day of fertility and love.”

Chaucer played a part

Another story, maybe not about origination, but about how it became solidified as a holiday of romantic love rather than the true AGAPE love it originally represented, may be when the poet Geoffrey Chaucer linked “romantic” love with St. Valentine for the first time in his 14th-century works “The Parlement of Foules.”

In this 1375 poem, Chaucer described the 14th of February as the day that birds found their mate (birds mate for life), I quote : “For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne’s day / Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate.”

In defense of this theory, there is no actual record of the day being called “Valentine’s Day” before Chaucer’s poem in 1375.

So it would seem at the least, this is the first time that the feast of St. Valentine was linked to romantic love progressing into the modern era.

The Origin – Saint Valentine

So…long way around, how did “Valentine’s Day” actually originate?  There are a few stories, seems its muddled in history.  Here is the story I believe has the most factual, written history, to back it up:

Saint Valentine was a Doctor who became a Priest. He lived in Italy during the third century AD and was a Priest of Rome.  His early life isn’t much known, including when he was born; history picks up Valentine’s story after he began working as a Priest. He became famous for marrying couples who were in love but couldn’t get legally married in Rome during the reign of Emperor Claudius II, who outlawed weddings. You see, Claudius wanted to recruit lots of men to be soldiers in his army and thought that marriage would be an obstacle to recruiting new soldiers. He also wanted to prevent his existing soldiers from getting married because he thought that marriage would distract them from their work; you know, fear of losing your life on the battlefield and how would your family survive, never seeing your wife or kids again, departing for long periods to war.  Hey, “I” never said it was a good idea, just that it was Claudius’ idea.

So…Valentine goes about marrying soldiers and other young couples secretly.  When Emperor Claudius discovered that Valentine was performing secret weddings, he had him captured, tortured and jailed. Valentine, not to be stopped, used his time in jail to continue to reach out to people with the love that he said Jesus Christ gave him for others (Agape Love).

Valentine befriended his jailer, Asterious, who became so impressed with Valentine’s wisdom that he asked Valentine to help his daughter, Julia, with her lessons. Julia was blind and needed someone to read material for her to learn it (in those ages very few common people read well, if at all…both Doctors and Priests would have been exceptions). Valentine became friends with Julia through his work with her when she came to visit him in jail.

Now Asterious, the Jailer  was also one of the men who was to judge Valentine, in line with the Roman law at the time. One story told in Catholic circles, but historically I could not verify it anywhere (so is it true, this part, I don’t know, but it is interesting, thus I include it); is Valentine prayed with and healed the young girl of her blindness, and that Asterious himself, and his whole family, became Christian as a result.

Now it’s said Emperor Claudius also came to like Valentine. He even offered to pardon Valentine and set him free if Valentine would renounce his Christian faith and agree to worship the Roman gods (and, of course, the Emporer). Not only did Valentine refuse to leave his faith, he preached the Gospel to Emperor Claudius, encouraging him to place his trust in Jesus Christ. Well, Valentine’s faithful choices cost him his life. Emperor Claudius was so enraged at Valentine’s response that he sentenced Valentine to die by a three part execution of a beating, stoning, and finally decapitation.

Before he was killed, Valentine wrote a last note to encourage Julia to stay close to Jesus and to thank her for being his friend. He signed the note: “From your Valentine.” That note inspired people to begin writing their own loving messages to people on Valentine’s Feast Day, February 14th, which is celebrated on the same day on which Valentine was martyred.  So, Valentine was beaten, stoned, and beheaded per Emperor Claudius orders on February 14, 270. People who remembered his loving service to many young couples began celebrating his life, and he came to be regarded as a Saint through whom God had worked to help people in miraculous ways. By 496, Pope Gelasius designated February 14th as Valentine’s official feast day, as we saw above…in an attempt to stop a pagan holiday celebrated around the same time.

So how did it get so commercial, and what about Cards, Roses, Chocolates, and Cupid?

The Victorians, who lived in fake embarrassment, thought it both embarrassing and bad luck to sign the cards with their actual names…started using Valentine’s original signature “from your Valentine”

Now roses have been the symbol of love since the early 1700s when Charles II of Sweden brought the Persian poetical art known as the “language of flowers” to Europe. Throughout the 18th century, ladies loved their floral dictionaries, which listed the symbolic meanings of different flowers. The red rose was believed to be the flower favoured by Venus, the Roman Goddess of Love, and has therefore come to represent that.

The first heart-shaped box of chocolates was introduced in 1861. It was created by Richard Cadbury, son of Cadbury Chocolates founder, John Cadbury, who started packaging chocolates in fancy boxes to increase sales. His son, Richard introduced the first heart-shaped box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day in 1861, and today, more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are sold each year.  I guess it was a successful marketing campaign, YA THINK?!

A huge amount of printed cards would get sold too, then in 1913 Hallmark Cards in Kansas City began mass producing specific Valentine’s Day cards, another successful marketing campaign; especially with the invention of the postage stamp – people began to send them anonymously. Racy messages and poems became common, as did increasingly elaborate designs. Today, over 25 million Valentine’s Day cards are sent annually in the UK, and over 190 million in the USA.

…and often lost in the commercial shuffle, the AGAPE LOVE that started it all…

Who is Jesus – Jesus is the Great “I AM”

Glorious Day Saints!  I know, I’ve been away a bit, nasty head cold added to ‘life,’ and there you go.  While I’ve been way from posting videos I did keep busy because as some of you know, I’ve been building a Website and this Blog, where I’ve rewrote all my Musings notes into Blog entries for anyone who’d rather read, or download/copy&paste them for any research or Bible Study they may do.  You can’t “steal” my blog entries or Muses, as the Bible and learning about Jehovah God and Yeshua should always be FREE, and I could care less about “attribution.”  We all learn and grow on the wings of the Holy Ghost and the shoulders of those Saints who came before us.  Everything here is free with My Blessing.  🙂  Take anything useful and spread the WORD!  All GLORY to GOD!

So…after my most recent posted series: “Who do the other major religions say Jesus is,” I’m going to add to that with a short series on the more “cultic” religions who claim “Christianity,” or at least want to claim Jesus (but not His Godhead), but they are not in line with Truth.

But frankly “I” need a break from delving into those topics…they end up making me want to shower with a wire brush – after all, to come up with a “Muse” or Blog entry to share with you, I do a lot more research and spend a lot more time learning about their ideas than frankly I’d like when I’m not exalting Yeshua.  But, to a point, they ‘are’ things we need to be aware of, or we can fall prey to them.  In saying that, do “I” have all the right answers, and should you ALWAYS agree with me…gee, I hope not, at least not until you’ve done your own further research when you find a topic that interests you, the whole idea here is that we would ALL be “Berean Pilgrims.”  …So we’re gonna do a series in-between what other religions say about Jesus, and “Psuedo-Christian Cults.”

We’re gonna look at just who Jesus REALLY is!  Let’s start with asking for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the Blessings of Yeshua so your humble Pilgrim disappears (not literally – LOL) and the Holy Ghost shows up and does what He does best…tell the TRUTH about Yeshua HaMashiach.

…Prayer…I don’t write out my Prayers in my Blog as I believe in most cases, unless you are praying the WORD itself, or out loud while leading a study, your Prayers should be personal to Jehovah thru Yeshua; and besides, I would be praying for guidance, wisdom and the Holy Spirit to speak thru me; while your prayer would for guidance, for enlightenment, for Yeshua to reveal Himself to you.  🙂

The hardest part of putting forth this or any particular “Muse” is how to keep it “on point,” and how to figure out how narrow that point should be.  In this case there is SO MUCH to dispute those who say Jesus isn’t GOD, and/or that Jesus never said He was GOD.  I call “POOP” on that!  And I’ll show you why.  Not everything, I’ll miss some things, and I’m gonna keep my scope to just one Gospel, John.  After all, isn’t the goal for “you” to be inspired to also become a “Berean” on your Pilgrim Journey…to “go deeper” yourself and thus to either know Yeshua better, or come to know Him.  If I can find as much as I do in one Gospel, think of what YOU can find in the other Gospels…in ACTS, or Paul’s letters, or Peter’s, or James, etc.

So, cinch your Armor of God up tight, hoist your backpack, Shepherd’s Staff in one hand (the path can be rocky), Sword of the Spirit always at the ready…and let’s Muse a bit on this as we continue along our way…

Did you know, the Gospel of John is sometimes referred to as the “I AM” book?  You didn’t?  Well, let me tell you, the next time you read thru the Gospel of John, any translation, take note of the number of times simply where Jesus said “I AM” in situations where the context was clear that He was equating Himself to YAHWEH, just as when YAHWEH first came to Moses and said for him to tell Israel that “I AM” sent him to free them.

For our study of the Deity of Yeshua (Jesus) we’re going to look at what is referred to as “Definitive ‘I AM’ statements.”  Now as I define a “definitive ‘I AM’ statement,” it doesn’t always contain the words ‘I AM,’ to be clear.  What I’m going for here, is more about Jesus equaling himself with the deity of “I AM.”  It is all about historical context sometimes, so we’ll try to explain why something that sounds not a big deal to us, was a statement that, if not True, was worthy of death in biblical times. To equate yourself with, or AS God, was indeed punishable by death. We’ll try to put ourselves in the cultural context of Yeshua’s time when necessary when reading the passages in John.  Now we don’t have time to deeply visit all the stories surrounding the 39 contextually definitive I AM statements I found, but we’ll give a “snapshot” and a comment or so about each and spend a little more time on a couple.

Yeshua “I AM” Definitive Statements in The Gospel Of John

Chap. 1:1-3In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Chap. 1:9-10That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
Chap. 1:12-13But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Chap. 1:14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
Chap. 1:34John the Immerser said:  “And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”
Chap.
4:26
Jesus said to her, I who speak to you am He.”
Chap. 4:42Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”
Chap. 6:35And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
Chap. 6:48“I am the bread of life.”
Chap. 6:51“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.”
Chap.
7:29
“But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
Chap. 7:34You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come.”

Now we come to one of the most definitive “I AM” statements known.  Most of you know the story, it’s found principally in John, Chapter 8, right after Jesus shames the Jews into not stoning the adulteress and tells her to go and sin no more..…then in the Temple  we pick up at verse 21 with Jesus telling them about His going away and how they would seek but not find Him, and die in their sins.  Let’s go directly to the text and stop and comment thru the whole scenario on this one.

We can see from the text the argument went back and forth for the Jews responded about being descendants of Abraham and never being in bondage (therefore not needing to be “freed”).  Yeshua challenged that they were truly Abraham’s seed, because they couldn’t hear His Word; because when Yeshua was with Abraham, Abraham was rejoicing to see Yeshua’s day.  At this they mocked Yeshua, commenting in the only thing they knew “The Natural Man,” that Yeshua was not even 50 yrs old, so how could He have seen Father Abraham?  So…when Yeshua stated “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM;” He was telling them as plainly as humanly possible, that He, Yeshua, “was indeed” GOD, and had been WITH Abraham in Heaven.  To the Jews, who trembled to even say the Covenant Name of GOD out of respect, a man claiming to BE God, or in any way God’s equal; was a blasphemy worthy of, and punishable “by” death under Jewish Law.  And so, at that moment, even these Jews who were believing just a few minutes ago, began to take up stones to stone Yeshua for blasphemy.  But this was not how Yeshua was to redeem us, and it was not yet His time, so He “hid himself’ and passed thru the midst of the crowd and left.

Next we find ourselves where Jesus and the Apostles meet a man blind from birth and he heals him, telling His Apostles the man was blind so the Glory/the Light of God, could be shown in him.

Chap. 9:5Jesus said: “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Jesus talking to Pharisees after they cast the healed blind man from the Temple.

Chap. 10:7Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Chap. 10:9I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
Chap. 10:11I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”
Chap.
10:30
“I and My Father are one.”

Jews consider stoning Jesus again

Chap. 10:33The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
Chap. 10:36“…do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’?
They sought again to seize Him, but again, Yeshua escaped them…

Lazarus death – Martha comments how Lazarus would be alive had Jesus arrived earlier.

Chap. 11:25Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”

Martha agrees…”on the last day”…not ‘getting it’ Jesus to Martha…”roll away the stone”…Martha: “Lord, he stinketh!”

Chap. 11:40Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
Jesus calls “Lazarus, come forth,” and Lazarus comes out…they remove the graves wrappings…Lazarus is resurrected, aliove and well.

A grain of wheat falls and dies, producing much grain.

Chap. 12:26“If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.”
Prophesying both His death and the birth and growth of Christianity.

Foot washing…

Chap.
13:13
“You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am.”

Where Jesus is going…how do we know the way…Thomas

Chap. 14:6Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Philip…show us the Father…

Chap. 14:9-11Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Chap.
15:1
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.”
Chap. 15:5I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”
Chap. 16:15All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.”
Chap.
16:32
“Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
Chap. 17:5And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
Jesus praying for Himself
Chap.
17:10
And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them.
Jesus praying for disciples
Chap.
17:11
“Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
Jesus praying for disciples
Chap.
17:20-21
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Jesus praying for disciples
Chap. 17:22“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
Jesus praying for disciples
Chap. 18:4-8Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “Whom are you seeking?”They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, ‘Ego Eimi’, in the Greek literally “I AM.” or if you will, in the Hebrew – YAHWEH/YHVH…’the Tetragrammaton,’ ‘The Four Letters.’ (the “He” in many of your translations was added by translators trying, once again ‘to help us?’) And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.  Now when He said to them, “I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.  Then He asked them again, “Whom are you seeking?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”  Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”

Now we’re going to end this series here; as Yeshua before Pilate and the High Priests, His crucifixion, etc. are a subject all unto their own for an upcoming “Resurrection Day” celebration Musing/Blog.

Let us pray and give God GLORY….

And now, please go in Blessing:  May the Lord Bless You and Keep You, May He shine His countenance upon you and give you peace beyond understanding, regardless of circumstance.  Shalom, Shalom…till we meet again on the narrow road…I’m out!
